Use Once A Season, Spring & Fall
Trees, shrubs and ornamentals can make low-maintenance and long-lasting additions to your landscape. Providing color, structure, shade and even fruit to your garden, one of their biggest requirements is an occasional feeding, particularly for younger trees and shrubs. They use a lot of energy in the spring, pushing out flowers, leaves and seeds, so they benefit most from plant food during this active period. Feeding your flowering shrubs after they’ve bloomed will encourage more blooms next year.
Miracle-Gro has tree spikes specially formulated for trees, shrubs, evergreens, fruit, citrus, and palm trees. They should be used annually, in the spring and early fall, for a continuous release of nutrients.

Prep SpikePlace enclosed plastic cap on top of spike. If the ground is dry, wet before driving spikes. |
Identify Your Tree Drip LineThe drip line is the outermost circumference of the tree branches. For small trees and shrubs with drip line closer than 2 feet, insert spikes 2 feet away from center. Spikes should be at least 3 feet apart. |
Drive Spike into GroundDrive spike into the ground around the tree or shrub following the drip line. Be sure to remove cap and save for future use. Then continue to drive spike at least 2 inches below the surface. |

We use these every year once a year for our trees, scrubs and bushes and every year they come back beautiful in spring. My neighbors have some of the same bushes and theirs look pitiful because they do not fertilize. These photos were last year late spring

Maybe when they use bilingual packaging, they reduce the quantity of spikes but the package clearly says 10 spikes, not 12. The plastic caps that are included get stuck on the spikes when they are hammered into moist soil and then the spikes have to be pulled out to remove the plastic caps which defeats the purpose of the caps. The caps should be oversized relative to the spikes to prevent this from happening. I hope the spikes are helpful to my trees but I would not purchase these again.
