Product description

Style:Houseplant

Caring for houseplants is easy and fun with the right foundation. That's why we created Miracle-Gro Houseplant Potting Mix. It contains the elements and nutrients indoor plants need to thrive, and it feeds for up to 6 months after potting. And because we know that bugs aren't welcome in your home, the soil is less prone to gnats, thanks to the right combination of ingredients: perlite, sphagnum peat moss, fertilizer, a wetting agent and coir. This nutrient-rich potting mix is also certified under the Mulch & Soil Council, whose mission is to define quality products that uphold industry guidelines. Plus, it’s recommended for growing Pothos, Montsera Plants, Spider Plants, and more popular indoor plant varieties. A single 4-qt. bag fills an 8-inch container. For even more spectacular results and to further support your success in growing happy houseplants, consider starting regular feedings with Miracle-Gro Plant Food 30 days after potting your plants.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cactus mix or succulent mix?
By Kelliar on October 25, 2020
I've used miracle gro cactus/palm/citrus potting mix for all my indoor succulents for about 4 years now and have had a lot of success with it. This product is similar to the cactus mix - but it doesn't have the larger chunks of bark or any perlite. It also seems to have less sand. It looks to me as it will hold a lot more water, have less drainage, and become compacted quicker than the cactus soil. And it currently costs twice the price for half the amount you get with the other potting mix.

I'd personally only use/recommend this mix as-is for very small breathable pots (like concrete or terracotta - that will help keep it from staying too wet). I will probably wind up combining this soil with more components to make it more similar to the cactus soil. I think this "succulent soil" is a little gimmicky - in it's pretty little bag - to get you to pay extra for what I'd consider a subpar product (for my succulents, anyway) compared to the cactus soil. That one I would recommend! Hope this helps you make a more informed decision.

1.0 out of 5 stars FUNGUS GNATS
By thomas a. on April 2, 2021
my apartment became infested with fungus gnats after using this soil, and I mean 1000s. I had to have an exterminator come and found multiple eggs that were laid in the potting mix. I even put garlic and peppermint oil in the plant to prevent them and they were still coming so I had to throw it out completely to stop my infestation. The eggs are yellow round and gelly looking.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mold Growth
By Brandon R on November 29, 2020
I like the texture of the mix. The peat moss makes it very light and airy. It lacks any hard grain or thick chunks but that was to be expected. The only thing I can’t get behind is the mold growth. Sometimes it grows mold, sometimes it doesn’t. It doesn’t seem to be harmful, it’s just not nice to look at
