Why is The Miracle Morning different? It has inspired me to be the successful entrepreneur I had always envisioned I would be "someday." Not there yet, but I expect to be in 90 days. All along deep inside I knew I would most likely fail at this too, since that's how I viewed everything I had attempted to do in my life. I was afraid of failure, so if I didn't try I couldn't fail. Right?
Hal shared all his real life traumatic and life altering experiences, failures and devastating financial set backs. Which I could relate to on a personal level. If Hal could go thru all that which is similar to my life experiences and he come out the other side more successful and found an even greater amount of financial freedom, then I could to. "If" I implemented all of the steps that enabled Hal to not only reach his goals but exceed his own expectations of those goals. Just like the restaurant scene from "When Harry met Sally", I looked at Hal's life and said to myself, "I want what Hal is having."
The book made me go deep within myself and ask myself why did I fail? Basically it is what I would tell myself right before I would embark on a new job, a promise to a friend or family member that I would do something or be somewhere, my core being would say, "you know you won't follow through." My stomach would clench and I would fell sick inside. This would be followed by extreme guilt because I didn't follow through on anything. Then my inner voice would say, "see I told you, you wouldn't do it!" "You are such a failure. You can't stick to your word or promises."
This book has changed that mind set. Now I don't tell myself "I will", instead I tell myself, "I am". When I journal I write, I am successful, I visualise myself being successful, what that feels like and last but not least how I am going to execute it. I visualise each and every step of the way. How those steps are going to make me feel. No more commitment issues. Those are not allowed! No excuses either . Those are replaced with accountability. No more self hate. Hate has been replace with self love, confidence, peace, joy and freedom. Like I said at the beginning, The Miracle Morning is a life changer!
I am going back to what my mother instilled in me from childhood and throughout my adult life which I had lost some where along the way. Mom: "Amy, you can do and be anything you want to do or be in the whole wide world. You are beautiful, intelligent, funny, strong, people like being around you and people love you. All you have to do is put your mind to it. Remember it's mind over matter! If you believe you can then you can, BUT if you don't believe you can then you won't. It's all yours for the taking...all you have to do is go out and get it." What she left out was the "how to's" how to set a goal and most importantly what actions need to be taken to reach and exceed my own expectations. Hal not only gives you the confidence that you can but he also gives you a plan of action. An action plan which will help you to execute those actions to reach your own level of success you've ever imagined but never knew quite how to get there. These steps can apply to any and every aspect of your life.
So what are you waiting for?
Thank you Hal for your transparency and sharing your life experiences from the good, bad, happy, sad, triumphs and tribulations with the world. Because of you, now I am experiencing things I only dreamed of but never imagined it being my reality. Thank you Hal for the gift that keeps on giving. It's feels like Christmas morning 24/7.
With much love and gratitude,
I enjoyed most of all, the quotes and the section telling you what you do to yourself when you chose to snooze the alarm. Little things like this help you change those small but habitual choices.

The habits Hal mentions in the book I sincerely believe are life changing and some of the most profoundly valuable changes one can make in their life.
However, the way this book is written is almost like a long blog piece that has been written countless times before by countless other people with several anecdotes/personal stories that sound highly exaggerated almost to the point of being out of a cheesy feel-good movie or TV infomercial.
The worst thing about the book is the really obnoxious claims implying as thogub it's the best book ever written and the only one that will somehow allow the reader to achieve every conceivable success imaginable just my carrying out his Miracle Morning routine for a month or two.
This book would have been so much better without the heavy publicity, the countless requests to gift the book and advertise Hal. It feels insulting to pay for a book which then seems like a glorified advert so often.
I'm committed to adopting the habits Hal espouses as do so many other self-help figures and definitely am glad I read this but feel like it could have been so much better without the brick to the face sales approach to put more money in Hal's pockets.
- good ideas and intentions
- simple yet effective techniques
- you may have not come across some of the ideas
- very poor writing. Not up to standard for a book (passable for a blog)
- lots of in-book advertising for the author's websites and services. This is not acceptable and frustrating since the reader has already spent money for the book
- very little content: it could easily be summed up in 50 or less pages
- lot of fillers and anecdotal rambling
- lacks depth and arguments are weak and poorly explained
- not good value for money: do not buy this full price! There are many other better reads out there
For THAT I am truly grateful.
The rest?? You have go to to the miracle morning web site. Give away your personal details (Allow accesses) and then you can proceed. You can then receive what I would only call really predictive lists of things to do and try. But!! At that point they've got your contact details.
So when you get through 3/4's of the book and find that you are really on board, nodding your head, motivated to try this wonderful concept out!! You get sucker punched with blinders on!
Come on over to our web site!! I Raised my brows. HOW .... is this book written.. with the web site ALREADY in mind??? ALREADY set up to go? To me that says marketing scam all over it.
I actually was quite fuming when I Saw that. He has really really blinded the world (Worth Millions doing it too!) So you have all these people who are 'on board' changed their lives. It's a mass brain wash..
And in order to get BETTER guidance, info and whatever else he's dangled in front of your nose (in the book and on the site) you find that ... oh gosh! I need to pay! (See half furious I got swindled, and half grateful.. I DO start my day on a much more positive note - only it's the path way to .... one of the biggest worldwide scams ever! )
The target audience of this book is someone who has never read any personal development books and views the whole genre suspiciously. For me, it smacked of a basic thesis, padded with a hasty potpourri of other people's ideas and coated with gushing "you can have the life of your dreams!" promises. I found myself having to skim through basic explanations of meditation and visualization to get at what Elrod was offering as far as original thinking.
If this were a blog post, not a 150 page book, I would probably have appreciated it more. The basic premise could be summarized thus:
To improve our lives, we must improve ourselves
The morning is the best time for self improvement (have energy, quiet, easier to make time)
Spending an hour doing a little of few good practices goes a lot way to self improvement
Those exercises are:
Visualization of the day ahead
Reading, particularly to learn something
Scriving (aka Writing, journaling)
10 minutes each.
I'm going to try this general idea because I don't think it is bad; I just wish I didn't have to slog through so much text for so little information.
