This review is for Miracle Sealants 511QT6 511 Impregnator Sealer, Quart, Clear, 32 Fl. Oz.The quart container of sealant was delivered on-time, appropriately packaged and as described by the seller. I need a sealant for indoor and outdoor application to a variety of stone surfaces and I selected this 511 sealant after reading reviews of multiple similar products; the fact that it is made in USA by RUST-OLEUM was also a factor in choosing this product. I will apply this sealant to granite countertops for indoor and outdoor kitchen and for inlaid stone patio tabletops. I performed a test application to a section of outdoor countertop and I am pleased with the result (see before and after photos attached). I cleaned the surface thoroughly before applying and I followed the manufacturer’s directions using a clean, lint-free cloth. The consistency of the sealant is similar to that of water, it was easy to wipe over the surface and I found that a little goes a long way; there is some odor from the solvent so I will be careful to ventilate the area well for indoor application.

This sealer is easy to use and does a great job. We purchased a pint for a 65 sq ft backsplash and a 20 sq ft. shower floor. When I saw the bottle I thought we'd need more for sure, but a little goes a long way! I would say we used a 1/4 cup to seal the 20 sq. ft. shower floor. It was easy to apply, wait and wipe off the excess.

I gave it 4 stars as it has a very strong smell. We have pets and kids so we applied it at bedtime when everyone would be in their rooms. Closed all the doors and opened the window in the bathroom overnight. We haven't applied it to the backsplash yet, as that is a bigger job we will have to plan for.

As for price - I think it's a fair price for a good quality sealant. A pint might seem small but it will cover a lot. If I bought the next size up it would be a waste of product and money.

Updated March 12,2023 - we sealed the kitchen backsplash, 65 square. ft. of dolomite marble and it looks great. It was quick and easy to do ourselves. After both projects there is more than 1/3 of the bottle left. Using the sealer in in big open space we didn’t have the same issue with a strong smell - it was totally fine and didn’t bother us, the kids or our pets at all.

We did a lot of research before trying this. To sum it up this will darken the grout. It doesn't change the color much but it does change it a little bit. In our case it made it look nicer. More coats will darken it even more. Although you probably don't need more than about 1-2 coats. Since it doesn't repel water it actually will allow the grout to change color when it is wet but then the water will quickly dry. When without the sealer the grout will change color when wet and stay wet a lot longer. It doesn't change the look of the tile. Use an applicator that is designed for this. A little bottle can do a LOT of flooring. I didn't even wait 12 hours and was walking all over it. It didn't hurt it but I have heard that it can be a problem. For me it wasn't. If you have to walk on it don't use shoes. Just wear socks. It should be fine. It is dry to the touch in less than an hour. The fumes were not really that bad but I had opened all of my windows and had fans running. It is the worst when it is drying. Once it is dry it doesn't smell. Obviously this is not something you want to get in your eyes or mouth. It is very runny like water and does go a long way. All you do is put it down with the applicator and wait about 5 or so minutes. Don't let it dry. Wipe if off with some towels. It doesn't hurt the towel but I washed them by themselves in the laundry just to be sure. Came out clean. Used hot water. Overall it's a pretty simple process once you know what this stuff will do. Do not expect it to repel water. That simply isn't what this does. It hardens the grout so that nothing can be absorbed into the grout but it does not form a coating over the grout. So it does not appear waterproof and is not waterproofing the floor. Only preventing stains from happening.

I had tried another product that did not work terribly well. I returned it and bought this. It makes my granite completely water impenetrable. Just make sure you throw the rags away that you used to apply it. It leaves the terribly strong chemical smell, not on the granite, but on the rags.
