upside down and disappeared in a few short minutes, BUT I was using 1% and it was my 1st try.
I too initially figured there must be some trick to this that they had some type of additive. Maybe sugar? maybe heat? I kept thinking...i said i should have tasted it at the demonstration =)
But after reading bruce johnsons info on here (sells them) and that ashley had kindly provided input in the review comments on here (co-owner)..if i was selling a product with some trick i certainly wouldn't feel the need as she did to
provide feedback. I decided to do as they suggested in comments on this site and a youtube video i saw.
The next night on my 2nd try with cold (I figured maybe hot was the key but cold worked for me), not low fat, i used fat free milk, slightly less than a 1/4 cup in a 2 cup measuring cup, with the whisk straight down, I frothed it really thick in about 2 minutes and my father in law did his and turned the cup upside down.... just as demonstrated. So there is *surprisingly* NO trick here, it's just as they say and probably just depends on the milk type and how fast you froth and following those directions. It was surprisingly easy when i did the above.
So i think the reviews on here aren't quite fair. Even if it didn't do that I'd have been happy, my wife uses it every morning for protein shakes instead of a loud blender which drove me nuts at 6:30am, but frothing the milk is a bonus.Read more ›
I was walking through BJ's when this woman was doing her demonstration, I just kept on walking past without giving her a second thought HOWEVER...I happened to be shopping with two gizmo junkies that day (sadly). The deal was buy two get one free and by one free it was a mini one that looked like a joke as well as a free glass cutting board.
The lady did her song and dance, glass measuring cup and milk whisk'd so thick it looked like paste. I wasn't biting I had no intention of buying it as it seemed too good to be true, the two gizmo junkies with me were drooling and foaming at the mouth but they only wanted to pay for 1...so with their eye on the prize (the freebie whisk) they asked if I wanted one, boyfriend offered to foot the bill for it so I said sure. Not sure I'd spend my own money on it but they two women had their heart set on one of us getting a free one haha.
First thing I tried the whisk on is Crepes. The batter needs to be well blended and smooth but never foamy, the whisk had it foamed up instantly and still had chunks of ingredients still unblended. I hadn't been whisking long or fast. I put the crepe batter down for half an hour to let the foam die down before attempting again. It took much longer than usual to get the batter as I like it and that was the last time I ever used it for that. Next I tried to beat eggs quickly in a oval-ish type of mixing bowl and that was a disaster. The whisk requires a flat wide bowl to mix properly and all I succeeded in doing was effectively beating up the sides of the bowl making the most horrendous noise.Read more ›
1. Use cold milk!
2. If you cover the whisk with liquid, you are not putting air in it to thicken it. Make sure you are adding air! For larger quantities use a larger mixing bowl.
3. Different milks mix faster than others. I can do 1% in 20 seconds now. 2% takes about one minute. The way you know it is thick, you will see an indent when you pull the whisk out. Make sure you push the whisk down all the way to get the full revolution.
My favorite uses are the scrambled eggs and pancakes. I love it!
