    As a lover of fantasy, I was really excited about the release of Mr. Fahl's book, and it didn't disappoint. Miraden's journey - physical, mental, and emotional - unfolded in really interesting ways and I found that my view of him evolved as well. I didn't like him at first - he wasn't brave, courageous or assertive...he was just...nice. But not really likeable, which I think was the intent. But as the book progressed, we got to see the stuff Miraden was made of and I really enjoyed that. I also liked the Ashenkin and the mystery surrounding them. They were scary, bizarre, and uncomfortable precisely because we didn't know their origin, their purpose (except to take children), and how the ashengates came to be. To me, the mark of a good writer/story is if I become emotionally invested in the characters, and that definitely happened here. I'm STILL sad about Miraden's bird, irritated at Ceychell, mystified by Simi, amused and relieved at Lovo...this list goes on. I can't wait for Book 2 to come out. Keep writing!

    Miraden's Folly is one of those books that you can't put down. It takes you to a magical world where an unlikely hero arises to face unspeakable challenges and cross his treacherous world to save a friend. The book will leave you wanting for more, and fortunately, the second book in this series just came out so you will be able to keeping following the journey. Highly recommend this book. Get the book, curl up in a cozy spot, and read about how against all odds, Miraden becomes a hero.

    I was so invested!!! !! Miraden was very sweet to help the Chief out during stressful times. Also, props to Miraden for standing up for himself! I feel so bad for Miraden towards the end. I think he deserves so much better

    Prepare yourself for an exhilarating adventure told through dual points of view. Though certain parts may feel underdeveloped while others linger a bit too long, the journey is nonetheless captivating—well worth staying up late for. Fair warning, the author isn't shy about killing off characters, but there's also meaningful character growth, all leading to a suspenseful cliffhanger that will leave you eager for more.
