Def Leppard's been around a long time, but this is their first official live album, despite having earned a reputation as a tremendous live act.

I'll open with my two quibbles: First, I really wish the DVD was of a full concert, or a full-length assortment of performances. While it's nice to have the four performances and two (unnecessary) videos, I feel like a full concert would have been the icing on the cake for this release. As it is, the DVD is merely a bonus, rather than a reason to buy this. Second, the set-list is a little too predictable. Obviously, Def Leppard should include a healthy dose of hits, as they do, but just a few surprises would have been welcome. A performance of their cover of 20th Century Boy would have been my first choice, or Run Riot, but I can't really complain too much, because . . .

What you do get on the two live CDs is just plain awesome. Joe Elliott doesn't quite have the same voice he did in the early 80s, but it's pretty close, and he really nails it, over and over again, throughout this album. The band is in full force, too, with tight performances. As I mentioned, they trot out the hits, and most of them are my favorite Def Lep songs: "Rocket," "Animal," "Armageddon It," "Photograph," "Let's Get Rocked," and plenty of others. Bottom line: they sound great.

Ultimately, I think Def Leppard fans will really enjoy it. I've been a big fan since I was a kid, rocking out to my cassette of Hysteria. I like the new recordings, and I get a real kick out of the performances on these two CDs. Highly recommended.

First I just want to say that in my opinion, Def Leppard are a very good band. They write great ballads and rock out when the need to. This doulbe live CD + A DVD of some material is a great purchase. The DVD is just a bonus as it is not a full concert or anything. Just about 50 min. of 4 live tracks and a lot of behind the scenes stuff. The Double live CD is fantastic. Joe Elliot can still sing and does sound great. (If they touched it up in the studio, I wouldn't be surprized. It is just that about all live albums get touched up) The Duel lead Guitars of Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell are fantastic. Phil's guitar is in the right ear and Viv's is in the left. (For all those listening with headphones). Rick Savage is great on bass. and Rick allen rounds it out on drums. Hats off the Rick Allen for playing all these years with one arm, and still sounding solid. Overall I would recommend this CD, but as much as I love Amazon.com, and I do love them, the import is a little on the expensive side. So either get this Used or New from a third party seller, or get it at Wal-Mart, as it is an exclusive to Wal-Mart, as they are doing this for a growing number of artists nowadays. I think people need to check their website from time to time to see what exclusives they have.

You get a lot for the price with this collection, it's a no brainer to pick this up if you don't have any of their live stuff. As a fan who's bought the deluxe edition CDs I was a little disappointed that some of the live tracks there are better - but on the other hand you're paying almost half the price of one deluxe CD set for all the hits (3 deluxe editions = over $60 vs. $12).

After a few plays the new tracks are growing on me, Undefeated seems tailor-made to open a show, Kings of the World feels like an homage to Freddie Mercury, and It's All About Believin' has a Pop sensibility that I like and many hate. Check out the samples for yourself.

The DVD is good and has some fun moments, especially Joe Elliot calling for "Death to All But Metal" (for anyone that knows Steel Panther, Warning - not safe for work). The DVD was the clincher for me, to have the clip of Rick's Return to Donington is fantastic. Any fan of the band must watch this clip. That alone is worth the price. The only downer on the DVD is that it's in stereo, the Rock of Ages DVD from 2005 was in 5.1 so I'm not sure what's up with that. I have my tickets for Boston in a couple weeks!

I bought this collection for the new tracks: ITS ALL ABOUT BELIEVING and UNDEFEATED, two awesome tracks! The live stuff is pretty cool as well, but if you're like me who's gone and seen them live... you probably won't be so impressed! But hey, it's Def Leppard! Another great live performance, I think, is the one with Taylor Swift performed on Crossroads (the live video performance on DVD)! I wish they would release that one on cd, that'd be great to have! It's available out there, not so sure if it's "legit"!

Review no. 48. I've said it before and I will say it again - way too many release to keep track of anymore. As I've never even come across this must-own Def Leppard live 2-CD / DVD box set - until maybe a month or so ago. Just look at the irresistible asking price. You get nineteen songs recoded live + five more - three of those are new tracks. Couldn't get enough of "Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)", the powerhouse "C'mon C'mon" (you don't hear this song every day), an old MTV favorite by many "Too Late For Love", the heartfelt "Foolin'", the rocking "Nine Lives" and their superbly-covered David Essex gem "Rock On". Then there's disc two with the late Steve Clark-penned "Switch 625", "Armageddon It", the timeless "Rock Of Ages", the ass-kicking "Let's Get Rocked" and their cover of The Sweet's "Action". Sound mix and fidelity here are simply top rate. Disc three is a must-see DVD with two hours of assorted segments of mostly live performances but also with some interviews. Essential.
