Astra and Dash are quite the pair; avoiding each other but feeling the attraction.
"Our mouths came together in a hot, bruising kiss."
"It was the first time I ever purposefully hidden that picture - the last one I'd taken of her..."
"A misbehaving menace of a minx."
A good story with lots of heat, emotion and female characters with spunk and intelligence.
They continue having misunderstandings while steaming each other up and getting thrown together by friends. He drives her back to her hotel after a party and they have one of the most confused sex scenes I’ve ever read. She throws her purse onto a table, then there’s some canoodling against the entrance door. He carries her into the sitting area and lowers her to a couch. The couch turns into a bed and the room is dark, yet he finds her purse, which should have landed on a small table in the entryway, and she gets the condoms. Next he’s ready to do her through the bed and the table is cool under her chest. There’s a scene break and they’re now up to the third condom, but very little has yet occurred. The wrong author wrote the sex scenes.
The continuity is woeful as is the editing, if there actually was any. This reads like a first draft that nobody bothered to read through before publishing. There are the bones of a good story somewhere in this mess, but no meat to flesh it out.
The book ends at the hospital with Piety in labour. You need to read the next book to discover what she birthed. I don’t know if the author may have been trying to convey the confusion and rapid focus changes in Astra’s ADHD brain, but I just came out confused. The first and third books were much better written I picked up 97 errors.
