The historical setting really did take me back with the detailed descriptions, the tone of dialog and demeanor of the book cast. I have not read any other books in this series so I thoroughly enjoyed the interesting twist of the captivating 'cad' in reality being the ultimate matchmaker or rather encourager unbeknownst to the marriage foot-dragging males who were the 'targets'.
The plot and characters are well-developed, the focus on the relationships and the insights into each characters thoughts really endears you to each. I enjoyed the read and thought it well written and liked the fact that it was clean.
Her father wishes for Beryl to marry, and with her being in love with Fitz since their childhood, one would think this was easy--if he would just grow up already. When a Duke enters the picture and effortlessly sweeps her off of her feet, it just might be the eye-opener Fitz needs, if he's not already too late.
Roycroft's writing style pulls you in and keeps you there, with vibrant and fun characters who come to life off of the page. "Mischief on Albemarle" is a quick, highly-enjoyable romantic read to cuddle up to on a sunny afternoon.
