Misfits: Season 2 (DVD+UltraViolet)

The Misfits are back on DVD 1/29 for another season of Sex, Drugs, and Superpowers! Fuelled with its usual irreverent humor, the second season of Misfits has an array of new characters crashing into the Misfits' world, and is even bigger, bolder and brasher than the last. The second series kicks off where the first ended, with Alisha, Simon, Nathan, Kelly and Curtis still on community service and still trying to adapt to their new lives. But what's new is the mysterious, masked figure watching over them from afar... someone who looks remarkably like a real-life superhero, and who seems to know everything about them. Is he protecting them? Or is he a threat? As the gang tries to piece together the clues to discover the true identity of their new stalker, it soon becomes apparent that the masked man harbors a secret that could change their world forever...

This has got to be one of the most original and funniest series I have seen in a long long time. You manage to feel for the characters in the show and really build a connection with each of them. The plot each week is always well thought out and followed through. Not predictable in any way and just a really fresh idea! Extremely entertaining and overall an excellent series that really is absolutely worth watching.

I'll be honest, I fell in love with "The Misfits" on first sight. I like TV that thwarts my expectations. Reading the description of this unabashed British mash-up, one might completely write it off. It sounds as if it could be complete rubbish on paper. But it takes its outlandish premise and runs with it! If you had told me that a show about juvenile delinquents with superpowers would turn into one of my contemporary favorites, I'd have thought you were crazy. Expertly blending ribald comedy with a science fiction theme, "Misfits" is easily one of the funniest and most wildly entertaining shows that I've seen in a while. Seriously. And if I were to describe it further, it would sound even sillier. The five central characters in "Misfits" meet in a community service group, get caught in a freak electrical storm that juices them with lightning, and awake to realize that their world has changed forever. Actually, not just their world but the world around them as the strange storm has affected others in macabre and hysterical ways. Season One effectively introduced the cast and its episodes centered around the quintet as they started to understand the new world around them.

Season Two, like Season One, is comprised of only six episodes. However, a Christmas one-off is also included that will completely redefine things for Season Three. That's a total of seven episodes for this release.

In this season, snarky Nathan (the endlessly entertaining Robert Sheehan) finally realizes his super power and it expertly resolves the cliffhanger from the preceding year. Everything that worked so well in Season one is magnified with more intricate story lines.

There is nothing negative I can say about this show. If you forced me to come up with something...it would be the wait between episodes.

The characters are real. They're gritty, they're flawed, they're people that grate on you until you realize that you love them, and that you notice when they're gone. They're multifaceted and true to each other. The music is amazing, the writing is humorous and dark in all the right ways, and the show keeps you wanting more. The seasons are short, but the episodes are long, and it feels like family when you're watching. I just finished the last episode and I miss them already. I don't usually do this, but I'm pretty much immediately restarting the series again tomorrow afternoon from the beginning. I can't speak enough volumes about this show. It is worth your time.

After watching all 3 seasons of Downton Abbey, I was looking for a fresh interesting British show. I read some reviews about Misfits and decided to give it a try. This is a really good show, the first 2 seasons are really good. It is about a group of youngsters who obtain powers, each one has a power and they slowly come to terms with it. Season 1 is all about them realizing their power and dealing with it. It has some slapstick comedy but all in all a really fun show with interesting characters. The cast is quite good and plays the characters really well. In season 2, the cast meets other characters who have powers as well, and deal with a new character each episode. There are some very funny moments and overall season 2 keeps the fun from season 1 going. What I like best about this show is that despite having powers, the characters are not off to save the world, instead they continue with their daily work and use the powers from time to time. Having watched so many shows where characters get power (Heroes, 4400) and these powers change their whole life, I like how the characters here continue with their old self and incorporate these new powers. Of course they all grow and learn, but they retain their old self.

I stumbled upon Misfits completely by chance and am so incredibly glad I did! I started watching re-runs of Misfits starting from season 1 on Logo and thought it was crazy...in a GOOD way! I finished season 1 recently and wanted to watch season 2 right away. Watching season 2 made me fall completely in love with Misfits, if I wasn't already! Season 2 is, by far, the best season of Misfits! I love it and highly recommend watching it here on Amazon!

Misfits is creative, dark and twisty, rather sick, but in a good way. It addresses the stuff of life that is taboo more than any other show, and it does this with humor so some of that "gasp! we can't talk about THAT!" energy is shoved aside. Love this show so much I plan to go back and watch every episode of all three seasons again.
