." . . Even when the kids drive you crazy with their antics and continued disrespect, frustration can melt away in a moment and be replaced by a fierce love and desire to protect them from the injustice they have been dealt in life. "Miss?" showcases these students and makes the reader fall in love with them through Maggie's eyes." -Cindy Jewkes, book reviewer and freelance editor "Few people understand the hurdles and difficulties teachers face unless they've spent time in a modern classroom . . . I especially likes and could wholly endorse the author's editorial . . . on the current state of public education." -Judith Hiatt, retired teacher "Having been a teacher years ago, I sometimes hesitate before reading a book about teaching. This on was full of honesty, hopefulness, despair, encouragement, and anticipation. All thing you have as a teacher." -S. McConathy "A superb depiction of a courageous, dedicated, and compassionate middle school teacher. A roller-coaster of emotional situations takes the reader from the gut-wrenching pain in children who face a hostile environment, uncaring parents, and a questionable future, to the humor and honest effort of those same students when cared for by an encouraging and loving teacher. The characters, both young and old, are so clearly defined that I finished the book thinking I knew them all - Maggie McCauley, her students, and fellow teachers, and her elderly neighbor, a former Army colonel whose humor would brighten anybody's day. Well written from beginning to end, this is one you'll want to read."-J.P. McKinney, author ..". I laughed out loud at the students' antics and nearly cried at several scenes as I empathized with the teacher's frustrations and disappointments in dealing with a failing, inner-city school..."-Tonya Hance, author ..". I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who has taught, been an administrator or been a parent to a child in the public school system. Laurel will make you laugh, cry and think." -Mary Ann Cohan "A teacher's life is full of surprises, and McHargue writes an excellent book that kept me turning the pages. Her big heart, military background, humor, and great love for her students is inspiring. This is what teachers who make a difference look like." -Suzette M. Standring

I would recommend this story to anyone who wants to lose themselves in a story, but with the warning that once you're in it is difficult to come back out.
Otherwise- a good read.
We need good teachers who love kids and love to teach, allowing them to show success in skills that will impact the lives of the children in a positive way. Teaching to tests? Not in my book….. I love how she got her points across!
I love the characters and the humor… Kudos Laurel !
