The highs and lows of her emotions were exhausting to read. You felt so much for this couple. You learn through their lives that life is too short to not make every day count as if its your last. KL Shandwick did another awesome job to making you love this couple. You feel through her words how much joy and pain they went through. This was a very emotional book for me because of how real it felt. Don't pass up the opportunity to read this story of Josie and Kane.💓
Missing Beats is an incredible touching story. Josie and Kane met when they were six years old. They became best friends. They both come from a military family. It was an emotional time for them, having to say goodbye to your best friend. They lost touch over the years but never once forgot about each other.
Kane is now a famous singer in a rock band. He is doing a show in Josie's home town. Kane reaches out to her after not seeing her for twelve years. Josie is excited but also nervous to reconnect with him. Kane and Josie go on an emotional journey and both of their lives are forever changed.
I loved this emotionally charged story. I admired Josie for her strength, being independent, stubborn and a loving woman. Kane is a sexy rock star with a good heart. He knows what he wants and goes after it. I loved how Kane got under her skin and melted her reserve.
She kept trying to build that wall up but he kept knocking it down. Kane was so loving and patient with her. Their chemistry was off the charts. Thanks for sharing them. I loved it! I look forward to watching this book soar up the charts and for the next release.
As they reunite their connection is just as strong, although both are leading very different lives. Jo is the sensitive non-risk taker who doesn’t like change, while Kane is the mega rock star with thousands of adoring women ready to do anything he asks. Needless to say, Jo isn’t too pleased with the Kane she’s discovered as an adult. But that doesn’t stop her from wanting him and those old feelings reignite. Kane wants he then just another conquest, he wants her forever. On the other hand, no matter how much she may want and love Kane, her fear of being tossed to the side, is a constant problem for her. Jo wasn’t the easiest character to like at times. I found myself wanting to throttle her and ask what's wrong with you? But then, isn't that the mark of a well-developed character? She felt that real to me and I could actually imagine her in my mind's eye.
On the other hand, I absolutely fell in love with Kane. He’s sexy as sin, charming, funny, endearing, caring, loving and he felt very authentic. He’s of course great in bed, but being with Jo, stirs feeling inside him like no other woman ever has. Missing Beats is anything but formulaic and predictable. There were things in this story I never saw coming and I was actually shocked, but they only added to the depth of this brilliant story. I give Missing Beats a is a 5-star must read story.
Everything that could happen to a person did so with Josie but I couldn't help feeling like it was her own fault because of the decisions she made. Well all except one and that was heartbreaking.
Missing Beats has all the feels. Love, passion, lust, anger, heartbreak and tragedy. You'll want Josie to get her head out of her behind half the time and spend the rest thinking she's got a point. When it comes to Kane, you'll be shaking your fist screaming oh no you didn't you horny toad! But ultimately you'll be rooting for them both.
I couldn't put Missing Beats down. The story flowed effortlessly and although I wanted to squeeze that extra star I'm giving this sexy read 4

I sat reading with a smile on my face through most of it, always a good sign that I'm enjoying a book.
It was well written and I loved Jo and Kane from when they were kids at the start of the story. Yes, there was drama and angst, but a good story wouldn't be a good story without some.
I loved his rock star persona and found him pretty amusing. And I had a few moments when I wanted to slap Jo for being so stupid. And him too it has to be said.
If you're looking for an all round really good story - then look no further than Missing Beats!
Ive loved every book by kl shandwick and that's because they grip me from start to finish. And after a few sleepless nights due to the not when, but where do I stop reading part, I have these no can't sleep until I find out what happens next bit. And I love that the book does that to me.
Kl shandwick is so good at giving the reader not just hot men that you just want to jump in the book and do unthinkable things to them but after you wipe the drool from your mouth and wish you had his heart your gripped from each page you turn.
The twists that are unexpected are brilliant. I loved Josie and her family they all feel like a normal family and that helps bring the story to life. Sometimes a book can get you frustrated with characters but that's part of what makes it a great read you need to feel like your shouting at them even if it's in your head. Kane is a bad boy rocker and he has a past that he can't get out of his mind with a little girl that was a child hood friend. But who can resist a bad boy!
This is an unforgettable story that you might want to read again. I loved the funny parts to they make it feel more real. Laugh out loud moments are great in any story to me I love it when I have to go back and read that part again, then I think how the hell did the author think that one up? I've started to highlight the funny bits on my kindle now just so I can go back and read them again.
I loved that this is a standalone book I would be so begging for the next book if it hadn't have been. I highly recommend readers to give it a go.

it was amazing
Such a heartbreaking story for a lot of it. I found it sad, but also it had such strength. I did find myself wanting to scream at Josie at times for how she acted towards Kane, he so obviously was bending over backwards to do what she told him she wanted and that still wasn't right, her confused! well it got me there as well. I felt her heartache from the past and the circumstances through their younger lives but he explained. With everything that came from that point I could see why she made the decisions she did, the focus needed to be where it was for that period of time and her strength was amazing. This book is full of angst but these characters are easy to love despite the hard work they make of it. It is non stop worry, problem after problem getting in the way but then that is what makes K.L's books so good. Reading with your heart in your mouth and thinking "gosh" what more can possibly happen. I think you tend to always get more invested in a story if a child is involved and this was no exception and it left me needing to take time out to process and digest it all. Really great read I loved it.
The early part of Kane and Josie's story reminded me of The Mighty Storm... only because they were childhood friends just like Jake and Tru and then life and career paths sent them off in different directions and before you know it...12 years have passed them by and Kane is now a rock star and living a very different life to Josie.
It took until now for Kane to make the first move and when Josie got that phone call from the one person she thought had forgotten her it was a moment she couldn't believe but one that was filled with anger and unanswered questions...why now.
From the moment Kane rocked up into Josie's world again reagardless of the 12 year gap you knew you were in for a good read, with their previous history as kids and their lives now and everything in between it was unavoidable.
Missing Beats is told in only Josie's POV and I think this is the main reason it seemed a much bigger read than it's 281 pages I don't know if anybody else felt the same way. I was only at 28% but felt as if I had been reading forever and again at 37% or so but I loved it because there was so much going between these two and with Josie struggling with her mixed emotions and fighting her real feelings for Kane.. all this and he hadn't even left her apartment yet and let's not forget about Elliott.
With Kane gone again Josie is left to pick up the pieces with Elliott and we are left to speculate but it didn't take long for Elliott show his true colours.. it was never meant to be.
As this fantastic story continued to rock us Josie was rocked by something else... she was pregnant, I had my suspicions all along but that was because I desperately wanted Kane to be the father and then finding out that Elliott had died was another bolt out of the blue and something else to add to Josie's fragile state of mind.
From this point on this story completely consumes you for various reasons, Josie receiving some devastating news about her baby and choosing to keep it to herself, feeling trapped because of that whilst fighting her true feelings for Kane dispite him trying to convince her otherwise.. the pressure really builds for both Josie and us. Your mind runs wild with the possibilities of what's to come and then Kane being attacked was the final straw.
Josie and Kane found themselves going through life changing situations at the same time but the outcome was positive thank goodness...we needed it after what we had been put through.
I honestly didn't want this story to end even though it felt like such a big read I didn't want to stop reading about Kane, Josie and Ellie it was beautifully written... Josie's father was right all along. Fate and destiny.!
I've just started to read Detoured by Love by Michelle Lynn and it mentions the Drake Hotel... is it the same one??
Every story from this author is fantastic and I can't wait for more.!
