About the Author
In his non-writing life, Adam is a bibliophile and avid collector of anything made from paper (utility bills included). He loves warm nights, good wine and the sound of rain hitting the window. Whenever possible, he likes to get out and see the world, visiting one European city at a time in search of inspiration for his next great novel.

But the police department is apparently too busy to do much investigating and turns the case over to this PI because he is very familiar with the investigation, which is ridiculous. I really should have stopped reading at that point but I have this compulsion to finish books I start.
I don't want to give away anything in case you decide to read it but want to give one example of why I say this story is ridiculous. The killer is using a stolen RV to abduct and kill kids. The first real clue is a witness providing the license plate number of the RV. Pursuing this leads to the identity of the killer. So we have a serial killer who has been smart enough to avoid capture for years but he steals an RV and he leaves owner's plates on it for weeks! And when the PI finds the RV, he calls the PD with a vague message to send forensics to the trailer park with o explanation whatsoever and then leaves this mobile crime scene unprotected as he leaves to follow the next lead. Most likely anyone who has ever watched a cop show on TV knows that the evidence should be secured until at least a patrol officer comes to protect it but a former detective doesn't and the killer regains the RV hours later before the police come
The PI doesn't seem to pass on vital information the department could actt on -- like the identity of the killer -- because the PD processes crime scenes but doesn't seem to search for the killer, leaving it to the PI.
This book is fast paced and to say it is a page turner is putting it mildly. Once I read the first few chapters, I couldn't put it down. It is well written, and full of suspense. It also has a fairly graphic base of children being tortured and killed, so maybe not a good idea for squeamish readers. I highly recommend it.
I was shocked by some of the reviews these people have left. This is a GREAT book! I really liked it! Sure it may not be for everyone, but what book is? If you buy a book and it isn't your cup of tea, just return it to Amazon and get a refund or a credit to the next book you choose. Your snarky comments are not appreciated by the rest of us.

I had to massively agree with Mason and his thoughts regarding Susan Chance when she went for Bill....I've looked up EFT and I'm none the wiser......I hate it when Americans don't bother explaining their acronyms, and they tend to use a LOT !! However, there were no mistakes by the time I gave up on this which is commendable.
I reached a mention of what had happened to Mason's parents and that made me roll my eyes but then, right after, his sister gets a threatening email and it ends with "If this email gets out, I'll know" and I just sighed and packed it in. Who would use a phrase like this, aside from some idiot on CSI or similar ?? It just didn't come across as real to me and I for one, wouldn't have take it seriously !!
Having said all this, I'm in my 50s and I've read a great deal so perhaps I'm a little too jaded for it. It may well appeal to someone younger for sure.
will Mason, Evie, and Amy continue to be in danger of the predators, that make our world a crazy dangerous place to be.
