Ann Dunagan is a homeschooling mother of seven and an international minister alongside her husband, Jon Dunagan. In 1986, Jon & Ann Dunagan founded Harvest Ministry. Ann has personally ministered in over 25 countries throughout the world and she enjoys teaching children, speaking to women, and encouraging parents and teachers. The Dunagan family are based in Hood River, Oregon.

Great book! The Mission Minded Child is a wonderful read and so important for Christian parents to know. We live in a very self-centered world where we have little understanding of what it means to be Christ's ambassadors to the world around us. This book gives practical ways to help your children understand this concept.

I just picked up, "The Mission Minded Child", at our local Homeschool Covention. I am so glad I did!! It has so much practical advice! I appreciate the writing style...it just makes sense. My favorite two chapters right now are, Training Your Child in Biblical Christianity and Preparing Your Child to Be a Prayer Champion. The first chapter I mentioned as my favorite lists foundational verses to memorize with your kids. She says, "Go through these basic foundations of faith with your child, and make sure he or she understands what it means to be saved and how to share the gospel with others." Then she takes a whole chapter to show you how to do just that! In the second chapter I mentioned - she answers the question, "What do I do if my child's prayer isn't answered?" There is a long answer but the sentence that caught my eye and spoke to me was, "Let God take care of His own reputation-- and let us pray!" I just keep opening the book and finding another gem of practical advice, not something I could dream of doing but something I could easily implement right away, like how to pray thru the Lord's Prayer with your kids. I can't wait to keep opening it and reading more. And keep discovering the teaching moments, reading the mini missionary biographies, the songs in different languages, and amazing recommended resources. And all the rest! It is obvious that the author put a ton of work into this book. Pick up a copy for yourself, you'll be glad you did!

Great Book For Raising Other-focused Children

We loved this book! From the personal autobiography the author gives about her own childhood to the mini-biographies of missionaries, this book was a pleasure to read and full of great information to help parents raise children that are not self-absorbed but rather have a heart for others to hear the Good News about Jesus Christ.

One very nice feature about this book are the mini-skits or monologues to portray various missionaries. My children love skits and acting so this is a fun activity for them and helps them to learn more about missionaries from history in an interesting, memorable way.

The author also includes inspiring examples of the acts of kindness, generosity and prayer that children are capable of when just given the chance and the outlet.

Finally, the book finishes with a listing of resources to begin building your own mission-minded family. This book is a wonderful companion to Ann's other book, the The Mission-Minded Family: Releasing Your Family to God's Destiny which we read first as a devotional that my husband read with our family.

Ann also offers a homeschool curriculum Teaching with God's heart for the world that we have as well.

I encourage you to check out this family's offerings to help you and your family have heart for changing the world.
