So not what I expected! And that's not a bad thing. I tend to have favorite authors that are just automatic for me. Penelope and Vi are automatics. I don't bother to read the blurbs. I just see their names and I'm signing up right away. Sometimes that can come back to bite me but that wasn't the case with Mister Moneybags.
I went it thinking it was going to be your typical CEO/insecure young girl. So not the case. Right from the start the story veered into a direction that I had not anticipated and I just love when a story can take me on that unexpected journey.
As I said above when I see the names Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland attached to any book, there is no hesitation on my part to signing up to be part of a tour. They have become my number 1 duo when it comes to collaborations. They write so well together and their writing styles blend so well that you don't know who wrote what. I look forward to reading what they come up with next and hope they continue their partnership forever.
Mister Moneybags was no different. I absolutely LOVED this book. Just like all the other books in this series….Penelope and Vi haven given us a fun, entertaining and captivating storyline. The characters are lovable and relatable and you just want to be a part of their lives. I laughed with this book, but I also swooned, yelled and even teared up a little. I love when they can touch on all of my emotions. I have to say I never want their books to end.
Mister Moneybags is the fourth book in their Cocky Bastard Series (Cocky Bastard, Stuck-Up Suit, and Playboy Pilot) but each of these books are complete standalone. Meaning there are no overlapping in characters or storyline. Yes we do get a cameo in this book from a previous Cocky Bastard (I won’t say which one) but, if you haven’t read any of the previous books, you won’t be lost or feel you are missing anything. This story is completely original and focuses on a new couple.
As always these two authors writing style mesh perfectly together. You truly can’t tell who writes which part. I loved the pacing of this story and how they worked the characters together. I loved the banter between Dex and Bianca. I also loved that they threw in a surprise in the story and took this in a totally different direction then I was expecting. Yes the first part of the story is fairly predictable, but that isn’t the case as the story unfolds ;) Once I started this book I found it really hard to put it down. I will tell you that this book had a really strong storyline, in which this story isn’t loaded down with a lot of sex scenes. Now don’t get me wrong Dex will melt your kindle, but it was done in a different way than I was expecting. To say this whole book was different then I thought it would be is an accurate statement, but I love when a book can surprise the readers.
In this story we follow the chance encounter of Dexter Truitt and Bianca George. They met when the elevator they are in stalls and they are thrust into darkness. Bianca is there because she is supposed to be interviewing Dexter for her magazine that she works for. Bianca was running late so she didn’t even notice someone in the elevator with her until he talks to her when the elevator stalls. Dexter Truiit runs a multi-million dollar company and has kept his personal life private….including his looks. So not knowing who she is stuck in the elevator with, Bianca doesn’t paint Dex in a positive light. But Dex is fascinated with Bianca and doesn’t want to let her walk away….so he introduces himself as Jay. What Happens when the truth comes out?? Will Bianca be able to forgive Dex for lying?? Can these two have a HEA??
Step into the world of another “cocky bastard” and find out those answers. You will not be sorry!!!
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves an engaging storyline with fun loving characters that happen to meet by a chance encounter. Oh and if you love animals in your stories, you NEED to meet Bandit!!!! Don’t wait start this series today….It is a MUST READ!!!!
Bianca George is an exotic beauty who's difficult to resist. Her mind and heart are as beautiful as her face that's why Dex can't resist her. She's a well-balanced heroine that perfectly complements this book's hero. You will admire her strong-willed personality with a little bit softness on the side. Our girl here may have experienced some struggles in life at a very young age, but being a strong person that she is, she used those experiences to be wiser and tougher.
Being excited for Mister Moneybags is an UNDERSTATEMENT. I have been following the Cocky Bastard series by contemporary romance geniuses Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland since 2015, and these two... THEY NEVER, EVER DISAPPOINT. From the cover, to the characters and story line, Mister Moneybags deserves 6 shiny stars and more! I must admit I stalled as I read because damn... I really couldn't say goodbye to these characters.
Mister Moneybags is a story of different kinds of love-- love for your special someone, love for your family, and love for your friends (may they be two- legged or four). It's also a story of giving forgiveness specially at those times it's most difficult to give. If Chance, Graham, and Carter stole your heart, I can assure you that Dexter will own it.
