My 10-year-old son got Mister Ray as a gift on Wednesday and got so into it that he finished it by Sunday! He says it was funny and interesting. He laughs every time I mention it. :o)

Pure escapism. A fast, fun and silly read about odd Mr. Ray. It was just fun, pure and simple. Give it a try, Mister Ray will suck you in without saying a word.

Saw this book as one of the specials and looked at the synopsis and thought that this would be fun. Hilarious is more like it. I'm not sure whether it is a young adult book, but in the same genre as The Simpsons, Family Guy, you could see Mister Ray and all the hijinks in a movie cartoon. This book was the most fun read I have had in a long time and came at the right time for me for a fun read. Mister Ray is just a janitor until he gets accidentally kidnapped to Area 51. Can't tell you much more than that. You have to read the book. I hope to see more books from this author as they are fun and lighthearted.

Every once in a while I see a book cover that looks cute, but I almost expect that what lie beyond it will have very little substance. I usually save those books for the "I can't concentrate" moments in life. This, I am now ashamed to say, was one of those times. I began reading this book and fell in love with it during the first few pages. This author does not waste any time getting to the heart of this fantastic tale. I loved that he was not so overly descriptive that it got annoying. Instead, he fills the pages with quirky characters that make you love them.

What I loved about this book the most was that I was never quite prepared for what was coming next. To think, at the beginning I was expecting another goofy alien book. I was wrong! I love it when that happens. This book surprised me. There was so much more to it than I could have ever guessed by looking at the cartoonish cover. Due to other responsibilities it took me two days to finish this book, but I could have easily finished it all at once were it not for the interruptions. It was that great! Have to recommend this one, I loved it.

If you're after a good light fun read you won't go wrong with Mr Ray. In the style of Carl Hiaasen, Dave Barry, Bill Fitzhugh and other eccentric character filled comedy novelists Adam Perry has brought to the pages a unique spin on the paranoia, fear, wonder and well nostalgia as well of America's Area 51. This isn't maybe a plausible reality of what really goes on there but a fun work of fiction doesn't need to be that. If you've just finished a horror novel, serial killer thriller or other heavier subject matter book and want something light before you get back into your next darker place book, Mr Ray won't let you down.

I don't really want to give away any of the surprises of the plot but let's just say it's a great mistaken identity, fish out water type book. Basically Ray is a loner, a keeps to himself type of guy who is not afraid of hard work in his home or at the supermarket where he works as a janitor. He has some sort of social phobia and worries about saying something stupid so hasn't spoken a word in years which has of course resulted in old lady gossip types in his neighbourhood spreading all kinds of rumours about him. Meanwhile an up himself jerk type, who only lets people call him by his last name Albatross, accidentally uploaded some video footage of himself onto YouTube, where he was singing into a bottle of hair gel that became next worldwide viral video big hit. This has gotten the attention of recruiters from Area 51. Albatross' selfish actions force Karma to play its hand, causing one of the many victims in his wake on the way to meet his abductors (agents giving him transport to Area 51) to be mistakenly abducted instead. That victim is of course Mr Ray who is too afraid to speak up letting them know they've got the wrong guy.

I will preserve this book for my son, who is currently 4 years old. After having read works of non-fiction on politics and culture over the past few weeks, I was looking to read something light, easy, and fun. My search ended with this lovely book. While the plot itself is pretty simple, it is the character of Mister Ray that is brilliantly endearing. The cover depiction, coupled with the vivid narrative, conjures up an image of Mr. Ray as being small, round, cute and adorable. Though a work of fiction, the story has a learning for kids and readers- one needs to believe in something in order to achieve it, and the lack of any special charms, talisma, or talent doesn't matter. Excellent book!

My little boy and I have been reading this story, and we couldn't wait to write the review. We haven't gotten to the end yet but we will soon because this book is just too funny.Mister Ray is a strange character with O.C.D. tendancies who is scared of everything. In a classic case of mistaken identity he is taken to "Area 51" of alien legend. Only Area 51 isn't what it's been purported to be. And that's when all the fun starts.
