I did feel like there were a couple of "left me hanging" moments. The jerk of an ex-husband tells Carol he's sorry for a lot of things, but then goes on his merry way and doesn't change; I'd have liked for Ms. Baird to carry that out a little further (or just leave it out and let the guy be the complete and total jerk he clearly was, lol).
The other "hanging" moment was Beth's character. It seems that she's jealous of Carol, and even pushes her off the lift chair at one point. The next thing we know, she's talking to her husband (or was he her ex, I can't remember at this writing).
I truly enjoyed some of the humorous moments -- when Carol thought she'd killed Paul's dog, and when she ended up underneath the ski hut -- I laughed out loud sometimes. It's always nice to know I'm not the only klutz in the world!
Finally, I love, love, loved the moment when Carol is driving away from Paul's inn. I won't spoil it, but...*sigh*. What woman hasn't envisioned herself in a situation where a man...well, you'll see.
I hope you'll enjoy this story as much as I did!
Paul and Carol have many things in common like foregoing living their own lives while raising their children ... when Carol's ex husband blows off his kids for Christmas, she decides it time to escape the dreary Virgina weather and have a good old fashioned New England white Christmas.
Paul's wife died several years ago and hes had a hard time moving on. Now that his son is leaving for college in the fall Paul decides it's time to sell his bed and breakfast and retire in Canada.
Can Carol and Paul find love and life when they least expected it, just in time for Christmas?
I love the wild country in the North and Moose Head Lake is a particularly beautiful area of the State and yes Moose to exist. Perhaps not magical ones but certainly hugh ones.
I love the sweetness of this story and while it might have been predictable that in no way detracted from the theme and the Christmas story. I love the Love Inn, run by Paul Love and his son.
I highly recommend it for a great short, sweet Christmas read.
Paul Love owns the Love Inn and makes Christmas special for all his guests, especially Carol and her two children Will and Ashley. Mistletoe in Maine is a sweet holiday love story about mature adults finding love in the middle of life and is a very special Christmas romance that I enjoyed.
The story of Carol Baker and Paul Love, "Mistletoe in Maine" is a variation of finding love in the unexpected places. Add a tween and three teenagers in the mix, an old high school sweetwheart and a cougar make a very interesting and enjoyable read.

It all felt far to rushed even if the description was great.
