Although this novella is short, Ms. James' characters are well developed. I just wish we had more time with this couple. This book is a spin-off of Ms. James' Rough Rider series and one of the first books I read of hers. Hopefully someday she will be able to write more on the West cousins of the McKays.
I absolutely loved this story! It was melt your panties sexy and melt your heart sweet. It's not a long story so there wasn't a huge amount of time for the relationship to build, then to have a huge falling out, and then patch things up so I was very pleased to see that Ms James spent a majority of the story on building the relationship between Nick and Holly leaving the falling out to be quick and easily fixed and giving us a beautiful HEA.
The characters, as always with Ms James' books, were well developed, unique, and easy to love and the story flowed easily and grabbed from the first page. Great job Ms James!
Holly does a favor for a friend and client. Her clients main attraction is out sick so she convinces Holly to be Mistress Christmas. Well Holly agree to do it she just has to talk to the customers until he shows up.
The he in this case is Nick West. Nick is a detective who is trying to help a friend who got ripped off from Mistress Christmas. When Nick approaches her and offers to buy he a drink she drinks two he tries for a lap dance. But Holly has no clue what to do and when the Bouncer makes sure she's all right she says yes.
When the lap dance turns hot and heavy she runs away. Nick starts to wonder what is going on. Holly doesn't know the rules. She doesn't try to take his money,,,,what's up with that.
Can this all be a mistake? Please read along with me by either buying this book or borrowing it. I give it 5/5 stars. Enjoy
His buddy got swindled by a stripper so Nick goes to check things out with Mistress Christmas. Holly, the accountant for the strip club, stops by while the flu has some strippers out ill. The owner and friend asks Holly to pretend to be Mistress Christmas. Nick meet Holly. Nick, don't mention your a cop and Holly channel your inner stripper.
Chemistry is electric and a night of memories are made. About time we get some more stories from the West side of this equation.
One of Lorelei James’ trademarks as a storyteller is her realistic characterization, even in the shorter length of a novella. I really loved how Nick and Holly set their inhibitions aside for a night of spontaneous sex, but it is obvious from their playful banter that both want more from the relationship than just one night. My only regret is that the story isn’t longer! As usual, I loved every word!
If you haven't read Lorelei's Rough Riders series--well you are TOTALLY missing out on some serious cowboy love!!! I was so excited to see this story was about one of the West boys (McCay cousin--McCay's dominate the Rough Riders series).
Mistress Christmas is a very short book with a hot storyline. Lots of times I read these short books and come up feeling empty, but not this one. This book was sexy--in only the way Lorelei can do it. It was hot and fun! She packed a lot into this little book.
I liked Holly (Yes I know but it is a Christmas book!). She is very relateable and who doesn't want to shut off their daily persona and want to be someone else...even for a couple hours!!!!!! She turned out to be one firey kitten!
Nick..(St. Nick)...I just loved Nick. I know it's because I 'know' all of his cousins and I feel close to him already! I love his persistence and determination. I love that he goes for what he wants. And did I mention he's HOT!!!!!
Overall, a great short, Christmas read.
Is it a lie? Or the best possible tomorrow they could have hoped for? Merry Christmas Mistress Christmas and Not So Saint Nick!
