The book begins slow and never seems to pick up any momentum. I found the heroine was a secondary character in her own story. The hero never IMHO redeemed himself, even when he finally declares his love of the heroine when in reality it was more a case of he couldn't bear his fiancee and he wanted to be a father; which could have been more of the story and conflict. Why the heroine would accept him beyond her lust for him wasn't really very well developed, she deserved a better hero than Vincent.
The real draw back to the story was the antagonist, Leticia. She was cruel, mean and at best a cardboard character. Possibly she had more history in Devon's story but each book should stand alone. I have found I usually enjoy this author but will look forward to the next brothers' stories with caution. Lets just hope it was just an off book. Ms Maclean is too good a storyteller to let one bad book ruin the series.
