I’d seen Mitch Ryder many years ago. He was great, and I had my picture taken with him. I just assumed he was a very wealthy person.

In the old days because I lived in communist country, I've heard in Radio Luxembourd only two or three songs by Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels. Fifty years later, suddenly in the end of june 2019 I've heard Mitch Ryder song again, from arena PA system, just before John Fogerty's very first concert in Poland. I had the feeling that I want to listen all best songs of this fantastic band from Detroit. This is great record, music excites still. Mitch Ryder was a very expresive vocalist and the repertoire has taste of those era, a little bit of rock and roll, some rhythm and blues and twist.

In this one disc, we have an opportunity to listen to music that helped shape the sound of AM radio in the mid 60's, and which would go on to influence a generation or two (at least) of other artists like: The Stooges, MC5, Bob Seger and, of course, Bruce Springsteen. Since he doesn't get anywhere near the airplay he deserves, it's easy to forget what a tremendous rock 'n roller Mitch Ryder was. This CD, with a great mix of high profile hits and lesser known tracks will give the first time listener a good idea of what Mitch was doing back in the day and why he was so popular. For a graybeard like me, it's like a time machine back to 1966 when I played Little Latin Lupe Lu so many times I thought the phonograph needle was going to wear a hole right through the vinyl.

The CD includes all of his best. Sounds like he's just across the room! True to form for Mitch Ryder: so much intensity, you get the impression that he takes huge doses of Vitamin B-12...love it, love it, love it!!! Thanks to the seller for the most awesome CD of all time! TEN STARS. KP HARWELL

From the first scream of Mitch Ryder telling you about the Devil With The Blue Dress, counting how many Fishes In The Sea, and joining him in the chorus of "I'd Rather Go To Jail. I'd Rather Go To Jail. I'd Rather Go To Jail than to gi-gi-give you up, to gi-gi-give you up", you won't be able to sit down. Yep. This is Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels at their very best on this killer album.

This is wonderful sampler of this early 60's band, but I don't know how much it will appeal to folks who didn't dance to these tunes in high school or college.
Also, good for staying awake on long drives (as long as you don't have your kids with you).

I am glad to see that others recognise the great stuff produced by this outfit - sadly - almost criminally - under-recognised in the UK. I heard them the first time with the Devil/Boney medley on Saturday Club because one of the Beatles (I think Ringo)- who were playing live on the show - asked for it from Brian Matthew. Great days and it sounds just as good now as it did then. I can only endorse what others have said BUY this album now or at least listen to the snips from these titles - it is as good as Rock N'Roll gets.

As I recall it was said that the band played with 2 drummers (not "percussionists") which made them pretty unique at the time and I have not heard of any band with a similar line-up since.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ryder on the storm
Reviewed in France on March 18, 2010
« Devil with the blue dress on & Good golly Miss Molly » reproduit le même plan avec là les sources originales citées dans le titre ... idem pour « Too many fish in the sea & Three little fishes ».
