Disappointed...

I knew the packaging was just going to be cardboard, and I got over it, because hey... beggars can't be choosers.

But the cardboard packaging with the USB drive inside looks NOTHING like the picture. I know they said different styles, but this doesn't even remind me of the cassettes I used to have. It's in weird pastel shades with BANJO artwork on it. WHAT THE WHAT.

Since it took me over a month to actually receive this, I decided against returning it, and I'm just giving it to the recipient anyways, but I'm pretty irked. It resembles the product I ordered in almost no way whatsoever.

In addition, I expected that the drive would've been formatted with a little executable or something so that you can load it with a playlist... instead, in order to have the songs play in the order you decide on (which any mix tape giver knows is very important!), the recipient must manually load the songs into the audio program of choice in the order you list in the liner notes. That's kind of a crappy gift. "Here, I made you this thing! ...Some assembly required."

Anyways, it's a little over-priced and underwhelming, but the nostalgic in me would've been happy with it regardless... if only matched what I thought I was ordering! Instead, I get a disappointing product that isn't even what I bought.

Wait to buy something like this till you can see it in a store and feel confident.

Is plastic too expensive for materials?

Read the description CAREFULLY. This is a folded up piece of laminated paper with a USB drive wedged inside. I wouldn't have thought making an actual plastic cassette into a holder would have been that expensive. I gave it as a gift and got a look as though I had made it myself in Origami class. For $5 it would have been ok, but for $20? Ripoff.

PROS: I do like the fact the USB Drive is separate from the "cassette" compared to it's competitors

CONS: I knew that the "cassette" would be cardboard, but I was really sold on how the USB Drive actually is separate from the "cassette". However, once it got here it looks "nothing" like the picture. It looks like cheap cardboard that I could have made myself. So in reality you are paying almost $19 for a 1GB USB Drive and some cardboard.

It doesn't even come with a plastic case which it's competitors do. I would actually be satisfied with spending this amount if the cardboard cassette came with a retro plastic case. No such luck.

Others have attached pictures that I should have checked out before buying. End of the day not worth $18.00 for Cardboard and 1GB USB Drive.

I really should have paid closer attention to the other reviews. The "cassette tape" part of this is just a really poorly folded bit of cardboard. The whole point of this product is to mimic and old school mix tape, but it really does suck quite a bit. For the cost they could have easily made this out of plastic and included a cassette case and liner, since the USB drive itself is only worth about $5.

Maybe if they could have folded the cardboard straight? Maybe if this thing could stay closed and at least mimic a cassette?

Don't be fooled by the pictures and description. You are basically getting a cheap cassette-shaped piece of printed card stock paper. I managed to get it to fold up and inserted it into a cassette jewel case I got from the 2nd hand store, which would have been fine if the jerks who made this product didn't smear their stupid website all over the thing. It's even listed where you're supposed to write in the tracks. Even apart from the cheap, shoddy materials, I do not buy gift boxes (which is essentially what this is) plastered with advertisements. So not classy. Really s***ty.

Update: emailed the company and they sent me a replace 2-Day Mail no cost, new one works with no issues.

Junk, The idea is great. Started to load music on it, not even half full and was getting a not enough room message. I was dragging 6 songs at a time. So I figured I'll delete everything and start over. Wouldn't allow me to delete anything. Ok I'll reformat it, now it won't completely format and prompts to be formatted overtime I try to use it. Tried ro re-format it with different formats, on a Mac and on a PC. SMH.

It's embarrassingly cheap

I was very excited to get this for a friend. I didn't mind the price at the time because I understood it was a novelty product so w/e. However, when I received it and opened it the case is MADE OUT OF CARDBOARD!! I mean, come on guys! I can get a 1 gb USB for $2 so you're telling me I paid $23 more for a folded piece of paper??!

It's so cheap I had to go to the store and buy something else for my friend because I felt bad to only get them that for Christmas (they always spend a larger amount on me and what not).

I'm jus disappointed that is all. I wish I would've gone with my first instinct. For only $25 more I could've gotten than iPod shuffle and it would have been a hell of a lot more useful than this. Again, I knew this was supposed to be more cute than useful but at least make it in a durable packaging.
