Girlfriend reports that the recipes are easy to follow, and don't call for any exotic ingredients that we would have to go hunting for (saffron anyone?). Just your basic ingredients that can be found in pretty much any fridge. I can report that the results of those recipes are delightful, and mind (and waist) expanding. I can also report that I probably need to start jogging.
Very very happy with this book. If you aren't looking to live till 90, or have a dentist that you really like visiting, you'll enjoy it too! Seriously, great recipes, and darn good desserts.
There actually are a handful of photographs in the book, but I honestly don't look at them when trying to decide what to prepare. There are many different types of recipes in The Mixer Bible, from desserts to sausages to condiments. The recipes clearly state at the top of the page which attachments are required, so it's a fantastic way to get me to use those pricey attachments that I do have. It also a nice way of knowing which attachments I may want to buy in the future. My only wish is that there were more bread recipes, but the huge amount of other varied recipes makes up for it.
