I am very happy with this knife sharpener for my Miyabi (11 degree bevel) and Global (15 degree bevel) Asian knifes. I originally bought the Chef'sChoice Pronto Diamond Hone Asian Knife Sharpener (#463) and it actually dulled my Miyabi chef knifes. The ChefsChoice requires a lot of pressure which made it harder to keep the knife vertical, requires 2 way movements, and the grinding sound makes me cringe. I feel like its shaves off more metal. On the other hand, this Miyabi Diamond/Ceramic sharpener only requires a light pressure, 1 movement (toward the body) and only a few butter smooth swipes with it's idiot proof guides. This Miyabi sharpener is much lighter than the ChefsChoice and may look less robust with it's plastic handle, etc. But I'd rather have a tool that is easy to use and one that keeps my blades at 10-11 degrees.

Seems to work well. It's describe as sharpening to 29 degees, but my birchwood is delivered at 19 degrees. Called the mfg. who said that 29 degrees was incorrect and that this sharpener is appropriate for all Miyabi knives (but didn't say what degree is actually sharpens too...). Just used it, worked fine.

Given as a Christmas gift and the recipient was thrilled and reports that it is working beautifully for touching up her Miyabi knives.
