On the other hand, the shoes look cool and feel very comfortable; but you can certainly feel the transition between the two types of soles.
The third pair didn't make it through half the tread before the heel structure collapsed. I never ran more than a few strides in this pair. I only used them for walking on pavement. I never jumped or did anything that could've put extra pressure on them. These are okay shoes if you get a pair that doesn't collapse, but I'm not going to gamble on them again. I've had to switch back to Montrails until I can find something better.
I'm a larger guy (6'1" 205 lbs). I was initially worried about the heel structure collapsing, or getting bent. I'm on my third pair of Wave Creations now, and none have had even the slightest problem in that regard. Two have died a natural death (sole tread gone) after about 400 miles, and I'm working on the third.
I'm vegan, wear a 12.5 (which some brands don't make), and an underpronator, so these shoes are right for me.
The Wave Creation are my favorite running shoes because they can handle me being a bit on the heavier side for a runner. They last a long time, especially when running on a treadmill.
I also appreciate how consistent Mizuno is with sizing across their entire product line. I'm an 11 1/2 in all of their shoes, unlike Nike, Adidas, and most others.
Only "but" is that the first couple days the shoe feels bulky, not sure if it has to do with the height or width.
