Japanese runners have long believed that a shorter stride and midfoot landing marries up well with a flate-soled, low forefoot tapered, lightweight shoe.

The shoe feels small. I wear an 11.5 in Mizuno Wave Riders, so I bought a 11.5 in these, but they fit somewhat more snug than what I prefer.
Quality seems good. I jog on pavement with these shoes, mostly on a flat surface, with one bridge that I cross twice on my loop. The soles seem to hold up well against the concrete (no signs of excessive wear). The shoes have held up well (no frayed seams or anything like that). They are good to jog in, but an absolute joy to walk in.
The Musha is a bit heavier than the Ekiden but has a very comfortable fit. The extra weight is in the forefront cushioning, which to me is an advantage over the Ekiden. Minimal heel-toe drop keeps you in fast-pace mode.
I have yet to race in these, but I am impressed with the shoes in the few workouts I have run in them.
Again, my only complaint with the Musha is the color. This "red plum" is an eyesore, even worse than the snot green hue of my Wave Precision trainers. Is everyone at Mizuno color blind? Seriously?
I would recommend these to anyone that would like a neutral shoe and is OK with the minimalist feel.
8/24/12 I've worn these for a full marathon and two half marathons. With training, I have about 1000 miles on the two pair I rotate, this year. I couldn't be more satisfied with this shoe. The price has dropped a bit to a best $69.00 free delivery. I intend to buy two more pair.
At first they seemed a little snug, I take an 11, they are an 11. It felt like the back of my shoe kept falling off so I checked to see if they were laced right and they were, it just seems like the back is designed a little lower than my previous Mizuno's. I did not care for these my first run, hopefully with some breaking in they will be okay.
For the price they are excellent, in spite of the laces!
Remember these are not super cushiony, they are almost racing shoes/track flats.
I have wide feet, and these fit very well.
