A bit of background. I'm 68 years old, weigh in at 220 lbs, I moderately over pronate and I have flat feet. I've been running for about 30 years now and have always been plagued with AT (achilles tendonitis). Prior to making the switch to Mizuno's, I ran in New Balance, Brooks and Saucony and always got their motion control shoes due to my flat feet and my weight and my over pronation. Since making the switch to Mizuno's about 8 years ago, my AT has totally disappeared. ANY shoe that can keep this 220 lb, 68 year old body with flat feet, running without any pain is FANTASTIC in my book.

The shoe that I ran in before the Nirvana 8 was the Nirvana 7, and as good as the 7 was, the 8 is that much better. I LOVE this shoe.

Now after saying all this, just because Mizuno's work great for me does NOT mean that it will work great for you, but................I do think that it's worth it to check them out.

May the wind be at your backs............

I'm 6'1 about 340 lbs (you know, a typical jogger's build) with extra pronation in my right foot and these shoes are awesome. I got these because I am hoping to do a Tough Mudder this summer and so far I have went up to 5 miles on a jog/walk and had no foot issues. This is my first pair of Mizuno shoes and I am really impressed

I spent $150 of my low income on this shoe, only to have the top material start tearing apart in less than 3 months.
The soft material between the top laces and toe tore apart on both shoes.
That is unacceptable, unless you make 6-figure salary and can drop $150 every 2 1/2 months.
And yes, I had my feet measured for correct size at a sports shop that recommended these.
These are the cheapest, shortest lasting and most expensive shoes I've bought in 20 years of running.

I love Mizuno! I have been using this shoes for past 3 months and no complaints. Use it for outdoor walks and treadmill workouts. Looks professional so you can wear even to office or casual trips. No complaints and highly recommend. Good cushion effects, and you don't even feel it is on. I like a little tight for runs and a bit loose for walks. So I have a 10 size as well as 10.5 size.

I have high arches, narrow AA feet, and overpronate considerably. I am 6'4" and weigh about 180. I had been through several shoes since I started running about 8 years ago, from Nike to Adidas to New Balance to Saucony to Asics. As I got faster and went further, I continually had issues with my feet, achilles, knees, and back.

Finally I tried the Nirvana 3s. I didn't have high hopes for them as they didn't feel all that comfortable to me. However they are the shoes that finally got me to and through my first marathon. The Nirvana has good arch support and a stable ride. They run a bit small and narrow compared to most.

After a couple years I tried stepping down to the Inspires for something a bit lighter (and cheaper which is nice too). For short distances they were fine but when I trained for a half marathon I started having issues again. So, back to the Nirvanas I went.

My pair of 8s seem to be the most comfortable of any of the Nirvanas I have had and feel light for a stability shoe. They continue to work great for me. Of course like others mention that doesn't mean they will work for you. Don't order these online without knowing what type of shoe you need first. Let your local experts help you out, and don't be afraid to pay a bit more for your shoes to support that service.

The shoe deserves 5 stars. Comfortable and tons of support. Very durable as well. Have well over 300 miles in my other pair of Nirvana 8s and they are just now starting to cause issues. Rotate these with my Elixir 7s.

On to the company. DO NOT ORDER from Backcountry. They offer these shoes at sub $90.xx dollars, but they claim it is the wrong sku number. The sku # is associated with the Inspire 8s, not the Nirvana 8s. I sent the shoes back for an exchange, and they will not honor the price listed on Amazon. They attempted to charge the higher cost of $118.xx even though it is their mistake here. That's fine, but as of writing this review, nothing has been done to update this site, so if you place an order at the lower price expecting the Nirvana series, you will find you are shipped the Inspire series from last year, and no price match will be offered.

I ordered these shoes as a result of the Podiatrist/orthotist as a good shoe for use w/ orthotics and pronation problems--they are effective for that. The shoes are not as cushioned as I would like (a stability shoe w/ some "give"). I have found these shoes to be better for off-road/trail running due to the stability, feel and ride. Although I only have about 150 miles on them, it seems that they are well-built w/ good wear potential.

I just love the older Nirvana styles! Comfortable, lots of shock absorption. I couldn't find any women's in my size so I ordered a men's 8 and I wear a women's 9.5. It is snugger than I anticipated. But overall I am happy to be in another pair of Mizuno Nirvanas!
