Top Customer Reviews
PRO's: The grip is exceptional (even on the dusty gym floors...). Light-weight, yet sturdy. Good lateral support without being overbearing like some basketball high-tops. I've received multiple comments from people that think they look cool.
CON's: The cushion is decent with the insoles that are provided. I've had a bit of trouble with the tongue of the shoe sliding down since it's low-profile (update: changing the lace pattern fixes this issue). I would classify this as a narrower shoe near the top of your foot, but not bad enough that I wouldn't purchase them again.
Comparison to Mizuno Tornados:
I also purchased the Tornados at the same time due to great reviews. I ended up sending the Tornados back. While the Tornados had a nicer insole, the heels and outside edges of the shoes seemed bulky to me. While the Tornados had more "bells and whistles" (i.e. an additional vent on the bottom of the shoe), I'm glad I chose the Lightning Z2's. I walked on a treadmill with each of them and put various insoles in both shoes for an unbiased comparison.
From a playability standpoint, they seem quite light and well cushioned. I haven't noticed any stability issues, they're reasonably grippy on the floor (I play in a lot of dusty gyms). I don't care for the tongue, it floats around too much and can be kind of hard to fish back into position.
Nice shoe, light weight and good grip on the court surface.
I use a different shoe for outdoor courts, though...not sure how tough these are on a coarser surface.
