I would recommend going to a local running store to get measured and fitted your first time buying any new running shoe. Now that I know what size and model is best for me, I find them online. If you are looking to buy without trying them on, I would recommend buying a half size bigger than what you normally wear; feet tend to swell while running and you also want more freedom of motion so your toes don't slam into the front, especially on downhills. I have narrower feet and have found plenty of room in the width of these shoes, so I believe they would be great for anyone with average width. Look for a wide size if you have had past issues.
You can look at the wear on your old running shoes to see if you have any issues with pronation. If the bottom is worn more significantly on one side than the other, it would be best to look for shoes with more support on the outside or inside, as appropriate. All running companies make shoes for that purpose and can be identified by the coloring in the foam on the side. Sections of darker greys indicate additional support to counter pronation and help prevent strain and impact on joints. If you a neutral runner like me (the wear on the bottom of your shoes is fairly symmetrical), then I highly recommend these shoes!
These come laced up to the top eye. If you feel and pressure in your arch or ankle, try changing the laces before sending the shoes back. The additional holes closer to the heel are an option to provide a vast variety of configurations. I recommend experimenting skipping different holes as much as possible before giving up on any pair.
I ordered up half a size and don't feel there was any kind of increase in the length of the shoe. The toe bed was a tiny bit wider, but not nearly enough to compensate. The only style they offer in a C/D is mostly white, which is the most impractical color for shoes, so unless that changes in the future, I will be ordering other brands instead.
I do feel a slight tinge of numbness in my right foot every once in a while. Not sure what that's about but thought i'd add for full disclosure.
I still need to take it on a run (it has been so humid and rainy lately), so I'll update later on its performance (I'm just a novice runner though).
