Let's get this out of the way quickly--I am far from an expert when it comes to baseball gloves. Yes, I have used them my whole life but, to be honest, have really only owned two up until this year (my glove from my youth and the Nike Air glove I used for years before my son stole it from me last year). When I got this glove I put it on immediately to see how it felt. It was very comfortable and the leather was soft. It seemed broken in and "game ready" right out of the box. Now, I have never even worn a catcher's mitt until the day I received this Mizuno so I knew the real test was going to be when I caught my son during his lesson. I was surprised how good it felt. If you are a catcher, I don't really know how to describe the feel of this catcher's mitt to you. But if you are a dad looking for a catcher's mitt to catch your Little Leaguer's fastball, this one is exceptional. I am very happy with this purchase and definitely recommend.
I purchased this glove because my son (11 yrs, 5'5'', 134lbs) plays catcher for his team and a glove was not available. It took about a weekend to break in and after a few weeks of use it feels great on the hand.
On the first day we played some catch and though it was just out of the box, it already was easy to work with. I then conditioned the glove over night and since then it's been used in two games and 6 or 7 practices.
Time will tell the durability but so far, so good. I highly recommend this glove.
