Each short-story is a very quick and easy read. Most are in the 2-3 minute range. The shortest one clocked in at under 45 seconds for me. The longest (the last story in the book, actually) was about 8 minutes to read. And they are a variety of all sorts of scenarios. Whatever you can imagine between two men and a woman, it's in here. From friends trying to have a threesome for the first time, to a woman cuckolding her husband, to a couple experimenting and trying to seduce a stranger, to BDSM, to "non-consent turned pleasurable," to a couple who is trying over and over again to fulfill a fantasy -- is this the time they'll actually go through with it? -- it's all there.
In fact, there are a couple stories in here where I wished the author could expand more, you know? I wish I could take a peek at the scene right before or right after what was in the book, because I was compelled to learn more about the characters. And that's very funny to say -- because tell me, how much character development or background can you fit into a 2 minute sex scene? It turns out: A lot.
It's great because you sense that you know the characters even though you've only read about them for 2 minutes. I mean, here's an example. Check out this excerpt: "Her lips were full and soft, and I could feel years of anticipation pressing against the back of my throat." You could imagine that coming out of a book entirely about these characters. But we're only with them for 2 minutes. And the truth is I really want to see what the years of anticipation was like. I want to know how they met, the drama between them, etc. This same short-story starts with the girl whispering, "I can't believe I've never kissed you." And I want to hear more about their story. I really do.
And that's where the only slight negative of this book comes into play. I really do wish I could learn more about them. As I said, I want to take a peek at the scene right before, or the scene right after what takes place in the book, you know? But of course -- this is a collection of short stories, so it's not really fair to demand that. But it's my honest response. I want to see more about some of these characters. There are tons of them that the author masterfully pulled me into, making me want to learn more about the characters.
Another interesting thing about the collection is that there are rarely any names used. I would say 75% are just "her" and "him," with the first-person always being a male telling the story. The more I read stories in this fashion is the more I liked it. It let my imagine fill in the names, and fill in who these people were.
As for the mechanics of the sex scenes themselves, I'm surprised that each one is unique and fresh. Different settings, different styles, different descriptions. It was great.
On another note, I found the final story of the book to be particularly touching. It's about a woman who is trying to move on from her last boyfriend and decides to take a chance and fulfill one of her fantasies. Again -- this sounds like the description to a full-length novel, doesn't it? Yet this was a simple 8 minute story. But it was fantastic.
And finally, I'll mention that I picked up a couple lines from the book. I'm in a relationship with a certain amount of kink, and Guy New York's MMF has given me some ideas on both stuff to try out as well as a couple great things to say. I'm always trying to learn and pick up phrases and ways of communicating, so I thank him for that.
Oh, oh -- one more thing. There are some funny stories in here, really. I laughed out loud a couple times. There's one that has a fantastic twist -- I was laughing my ass off at what one couple pulled on a guy. I won't ruin it, but it was great. There are a couple other times where the dialogue is just funny. The dialogue is real, you know? They talk like real people. It's really quite good.
I was fortunate to receive a complimentary copy of this book and am disclosing that. Pick up a copy and give it a read. I'm sure you'll have a good time. If you aren't into male/male or male/male/female scenes, then skip this one. But if you're a fan of passionate, hot sex scenes with real characters in real situations, you'll have a blast reading it.
