Skimmable, but not very good

While I appreciated the author's enthusiasm, I was turned off by his style. Too often he asserts that he's “sure” the reader doesn’t know something or hasn’t been somewhere. There are also typos throughout and some silly errors—referring to the “presidents of North America” and stating that Janet Jackson's infamous wardrobe malfunction occurred during an awards show. As for memory content, way too much filler and repetition. I also found him dismissive of perhaps the best written and reported book on the world of memory competitions, “Moonwalking with Einstein,” which is a brilliant book. If you want an overview of the topic, “Moonwalking” is excellent. I also recommend Lorayne’s “Memory Book,” and books by Ed Cooke and Dominic O’Brien.

I found this book to be helpful in gaining a much better understanding of how memory palaces are used. I didn’t feel like all I was getting was hints designed to sell me something else, as some of these books are clearly geared to do. It is a delivery on the title’s promise.
