It has everything you could ask for, but I reserved one star because there's always room for improvement *wink*
If you use a stylus, there's a small elastic loop [on the far right hand side- outer edge of case] to slip your stylus through and keep in place for future uses. Nice feature but the loop could be just a touch larger in diameter. You really have to play with it- to work your stylus through the opening and get it inserted. But once inserted your certainly won't loose it.
Second and I may be a little spoiled... but I wish the "cover" was magnetized on both sides. When the case is closed [to protect the Fire screen] there IS a magnet that keeps it nice and tight. It also automatically puts your Fire HD into sleep mode to reserve the battery life, which is great!
However, when you open the case and flip the cover to the "back" side, there's no magnet to keep it in place. Instead--- there's an elastic strap [that runs the vertical length of the case] and you must insert the cover underneath it to keep it in place. This is just a minor inconvenience. Not a big deal. But a magnet there would make it perfect.
PS. One more thing, for those who want a more professional look for their Cover Case. The Z-Dual Color (black with a vertical swirl of brown on the outer edge) looks expensive and I really love it.
Hope this review was helpful.
The device can only be inserted one way. This puts the speakers at the bottom of the case, near the fold. No problem yet.
However, when I try and set up the case to hold the tablet up and open by itself, this means the speakers are pointed directly at the desk, blanket, etc. that they happen to be on. And the sound wasn't very good to begin with.
Also, this case overlaps the edge more aggressively than my other one, so it is almost impossible to swipe down for settings, etc. along one edge no matter how much I tinker with it.
What I am hating right now is that this flaw appears to apply to most of the cases and I am getting pushed toward buying the overly expensive Amazon version.
Frankly, putting the speakers on the long edge appears to be an Amazon design flaw (most people are watching movies in landscape?), but that is not part of this review.
I enjoy using it like a book cover. The heft and feel is balanced and satisfying in my hands and gives the tactile pleasure of holding a good book. The case is entirely flat in your hands when the top flap is folded behind the Fire, perfect for writing and comfortable for reading flat on your back in bed. A very handy utility of this cover is that it puts the Fire 8 immediately into sleep mode when you close it. The Fire comes out of sleep mode when you reopen the cover. No need to worry about high battery use when you put down your Fire and walk away.
I have another, older Fire. I bought an aftermarket cover of a different brand for that unit years ago. It's functional and has held up okay, but it feels and looks cheap in comparison to this Moko, and I paid more for it. I'm sure my Fire 8 MoKo case will hold up and look great for many, many years.
The MoKo case is pleasingly priced, a true bargain for its workmanship and durability. I cannot recommend it highly enough for Fire 8 owners who enjoy excellent craftsmanship.
