Application Folder Pro can become one of the most useful low-cost 'housekeeping' apps once you can figure out how to set it up and use it properly. Sadly, in-app documentation is non-existent and learning how to use App Folder Pro is not unlike working on solving a puzzle. I'm probably 80% 'there' myself and I am going to keep this app to better manage my screen (XOOM with Honeycomb) but I'm afraid some may abandon it in frustration before realizing its benefits.

So, let's see if this helps:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

App Folder Pro allows you to group apps, bookmarks and contacts into custom folders. You have the ability to create as many custom folders as you wish and you can then attach the folders contents to a widget that can be placed on your screen.

Through the widget you can control the ways in which your folder will look and behave on your screen.

CREATING A FOLDER

This may look like a difficult process but once you do it once or twice it becomes quick and easy. This is how it's done.

First of all, it's worth noting that installing App Folder Pro will add an app called 'Folder Editor' (you'll see it under Apps) AND two widgets named 'Application folder I' and 'Application folder II' which you will find under Widgets. Setting up a folder involves placing one of the widgets on your desktop and then associating it with one of the folders you've previously created.

- STEP 1 - Create a folder.
* Run 'Folder Editor' and 'tap' to create a new folder.
* Tapping on the new folder's generic icon will open a window showing 3 folder classes to pick from: dynamic icons, internal icons (a few dozen) and a class labelled 'from gallery' which allowed me to select any drawing or photo found on my tablet.

Simply an outstanding folder based shortcut manager for your android phone. Think of it as an easier to use version of Folder Organizer featured here a few weeks ago.

This program allows you to have customizable shortcuts appear on your home screen. Install a new app? You'll get a notification to create a shortcut for the app you just installed.

Custom icons? It's got them. Create your own icon? It can do that too.

I've been using the free version for a few months now and I'm happy to upgrade to the pro version.

Awesome app!

This app is absolutely a must have if you have a lot of apps! Not only does it allow you to organize your apps into folders, but prompts you to assign a newly installed app into an existing folder, and removes the entry upon uninstalling.

The only downside is the lack of updating from Amazon. Why can we not get the latest version? It has been a while.

with a variety of icons and the fact that you can add so many apps into each, name every icon, then choose layout whether it is scroll view window horizontal and light or dark when you tap icon, it is truly one of my top three favorite apps. They have updates once in awhile that also give you more selection of icon choice and I have not once had an issue with this app. My entire phone is on 7 icons all at my fingertips and as I have ALOT loaded onto the phone I never forget that I have an app for that. It states somewhere you should limit # of apps you place in there for speed purposes but I exceded the limit and it hasn't missed a beat. I highly recommend. Instructions sound confusing at first but once your in there it is so simple and last update made it easier.

For one if you delete an app it automatically removes the icon for you unlike stock folders which you have to do manually. I repeatedly download and delete apps so this was a pleasant surprise bonus for me. The fact that you can make the folders look anything but plain is awesome, even pics in your gallery can be used. Well done and happy this was the featured app today. Evo 4g.

I love this app, and have used it for years. Pro version. After phone reset, I noticed this version didn't have Folder Editor, etc. I found the Lite version in the Play Store, and run both to get Pro features like backup, various folder styles, etc I'm used to. THIS version is UNUSABLE and I'm sorry the dev hates his Amazon customers and let's THIS junkware stay at this store, but no way I'm paying again because "Google ecosystem" or some contract problem. At least put up a blog, or a note, why your Amazon customers are getting crapware!

I had the Lite version and love it so much that I decided to purchase to help support dev even though I don't think there's any difference between the two. I just did a reinstallation of Eclipse v2.3 because of some issues. On my last install I was having problems with adding shortcuts within this app. Could have something to do with this ROM (it was corrupted because I didn't do a proper install) but after I added a couple shortcuts I no longer could get the shortcut wizard to start. You may want to test this right away before you customize everything just to be sure.

However, I love this app. I wish I could upload some screenshots of my customized folders. Its waay cool.

Android already has a built-in folder system, with widgets. So what is it that Application Folder Pro is getting so serious about? Customization. Unlike the stock folder system, Application Folder Pro allows you to change how your folders look and how they display their contents. Fair enough, and, it does this job pretty well. Too bad it doesn't let you change the folder icons themselves, which for me, aren't nearly as pleasing as the stock ones. Unlike the stock system, you can create folders with mixed information, such as a couple contacts, a bookmark, and an app, which makes it a lot more useful. When adding a contact, you can select to call them directly, send them a text, or be given the option. Bookmarks are pulled from the stock Browser app only, so if you're using something else, you're going to have to do a little import/export work.

Overall, I found Application Folder Pro to be a pretty nifty, with the biggest pain being the stock icon for the folders. $1.50 (current price) nifty? Yeah, sure, I think that's pretty fair.

I hope you found this review helpful, and if not, feel free to leave comments/questions.
