Overview: Let's face it, it is miserable when your laptop is out of range from usable WiFi, especially when traveling. Therefore, what is the next best thing? Your phone naturally. But, many websites can overwhelm your mobile device or can require Flash, which makes it nice when you can use a computer. So, what is the solution? Use your phone data on your computer of course. Enter Easy Tether, which makes data sharing, well easy. In a 2 part process, you will need to install a program on your computer, then install the app on your phone, connect the 2 via USB cable and viola! To be fair, the app does require a little setup and a few settings need to be enabled but then everything should work properly. And in the end you will be using Mobile data to surf the Web on your computer. Nice!
Pros: -Simple setup -Mobile data sharing made easy -Works properly every time (after initial setup) -Fair price for the service -Usable on every network (supposedly) -Good while on the go or during home WiFi outages -Free version (try before you buy)
Cons: -Bluetooth tethering did not function on my Samsung GS3 to Nexus 7 pairing -Phone must be using Mobile data, not WiFi to function properly -May take some effort to have phone recognized on computer
Most Useful Feature: The tethering is just awesome by itself and is well worth the money.
I'm a site engineer for a construction company i needed internet access for my laptop to see and upload/download site plans and PDF's in these case's a smart phone just won't do my company has a business TRUELY UNLIMITED plan so our data speeds aren't caped at anytime initially we had 4g USB sticks for the laptops but that was another bill the company was paying for so on my own i bought this app works so well the other 4 mangers also installed this app and we're all using it for laptop internet access you will need to go through a process to get it to work , allowing it to work on the phone will need internet access to get it on the laptop but once you get it set up your good to go
Have had issues with connection. Even though phone shows a good connection this sw keeps dropping off, so have to refresh page a number of times between sites. Could not get it to connect on one of the laptops using same phone. Contacted customer support and they were much help and stopped providing support even though I have the easy tether pro paid version.
Great app, I got this just before vacation and was unable to use Wi-Fi on my laptop, but I wanted to check webpages and do things that required the use of my laptop. This app was great for getting to accomplish all of my tasks. It had a very easy set up, and then all I had to do was hook up my phone to my laptop and I was good to go! Fantastic app as I am not able to tether on my carrier without extra charges!
This product works and doesn't require complicated tricks to root you device. I've used the product on a variety of devices since I bought it in 2011. They have supported every Android phone I've owned. I've mainly used Windows 7, 8, 10 to tether. Now, I'm investigating how their drivers work other platforms, since they support several version of Linux, FreeBSD and even OpenWRT. That means you could connect a variety of custom or commercial routers to your phone. Ubuntu works well. Next I'm planning to build a router to test OpenWRT and pfSense.
With my Samsung Galaxy S4 on the Sprint network, this app works perfectly. Follow the instructions to the T, including not to plug in the phone to the computer while downloading and installing the driver software to the computer. Do this and you are rewarded with an app that runs an Internet connection using your cellphone connection for your laptop without paying those ridiculous hotspot prices. OK, I can see charging us to use our cellphones for a WiFi hotspot to several devices, but not for tethering a laptop with the USB cable. This app changes the game back to sanity and it works perfectly.
having issues .. but I'm a Sprint Customer that is trying to avoid the BS tether charge to use the data already provided to me by Sprint.. I've tried PdaNet+; FoxFi and now this .. all same problem.. I'm guessing no Dev's have solved the go around entirely for all problems.
