After the first book in this series I had hoped that the story of Virginia and Maude would be clarified. The interjection of these two characters makes no sense in the overall story. They just seem to be fillers..The story was left hanging again in this second book of the series. Both of these stories of Maude and Virginia in the overall novel are left disjointed and make no sense with the rest of the plot. Hopefully, in the 3rd book this story will be resolved and add to the overall conclusion.
The Amish characters and the overall plot is very interesting and that's why I have given three stars. The greenhouse setting is different than a lot of Amish novels and I like that. I also like the author bringing in a few characters from her prior books which seems to give a continuance to the author's prior stories.
I really look forward to book three about Belinda and Henry who are much more interesting characters than Sylvia who is highlighted in book 2.
Henry and Sylvia are working through their grief and learning to live again as they take up the hobby of watching birds. Sylvia has two small children to raise alone and while she doesn’t see herself as having any kind of a future with anyone, a surprise just might be in store for this young widowed woman. A new character is introduced in this book by the name of Dennis Weaver who is shy and while he is interested in Sylvia, he knows that he must forgive a wrong in the past in order to have any kind of future with her.
There are themes of faith throughout the book, and I think it shows how it anchors the soul when storms come. The author does a splendid job of balancing the reality of grief with faith and working through the anger sometimes aimed at God. The tale shows how the King family is just beginning to learn to live again without their loved ones and the hope that can come with new relationships as well as drawing near to God.
I look forward to the concluding book set to come out in Spring of 2021 titled The Robins Greeting to see who has been vandalizing the family, what is in Sylvia’s future and more. Hope you enjoy the series too!
really liked it
The Mockingbirds Song by Wanda E Brunstetter Is book 2 in the Amish Greenhouse Mystery Series.
Still dealing with the tragic death of three family members Sylvia has struggled to cope. Her mother who is dealing slightly better however she is overcompensating by hovering over her grown children. Will both these women be able to come to terms with their loss or will they loose all hope and faith. There are many twists and turns in this book and I found myself at times wishing this book would just get to the point. I did enjoy this book and look forward to book 3 in the series because I also realize just as like this book it’s like life sometimes it takes some people quite awhile to recover a death and others will recover much sooner.
I do recommend this book
