This story is told from Kade’s point of view and as the final story in the series, exposure is a perfect title – secrets, vulnerabilities, friendships tested and some plot points from previous stories being solved. I love these two characters, as well as the supporting group that has been growing with each book. On the surface, the two main characters should not work as well as they do, between them they have a laundry list of physical and mental health issues, but when they do get their quiet moments together, they balance each other so well. You really want them to have their happy ending!
The focus of this book is more on their personal lives than the business, they are still dealing with the effects of Kade being held hostage by his family (again), the unanswered question on whether Nathan had betrayed Kade and was Nathan’s death even a suicide? Not to mention the new information uncovered about Ollie’s past and parents. Kade is trying to be strong while Ollie is much stronger than he was at the start of the series and Kade needs to lean on him more. This final story is an emotional roller coaster and you really don’t know how things will play out almost until the end!
As with the other books in this series, Model Exposure is a well paced thriller, contemporary and romance all rolled into one and so very hard to put down! If you are already a fan of Lissa Kasey’s work and this series, I believe you will enjoy this last book – and still love the characters enough that you don’t want it to end! Especially since it would be nice to see what happens with Tomas, maybe even if Jacob finds a happy ending, but at the same time, it is a very satisfying ending to the series and yet another excellent book by this author. If you like books that are mystery/thriller/PI’s with seemingly opposite lead characters, I highly recommend this series. Easily one of my favorite authors and one of my favorite books for 2017.
Building on the events of the previous three books, Kade and Oliver once again leap into the fray, despite all that they want to do is be together and run Haven Investigations. Unfortunately, there are many aspects to the story arc that are unresolved, and allowing them to do their own thing isn’t going to happen. The plot is just as convoluted as you would expect it to be at four books in, with subplots galore. The pacing is on point, with nothing dragging or being rushed. I especially appreciated that aspect in terms of the healing required from injuries. So many authors have characters just miraculously heal, but that is not the case here. Ollie’s injuries are affecting his daily life, and I appreciate the workarounds written into the book.
The character growth is far and away the largest in Model Exposure, and watching them work through their challenges was an emotional roller coaster. There is a lot of hurt/comfort here, and seeing the love for Oliver through Kade’s eyes really makes you appreciate the duo at another entire level.
The peripheral characters once again create the richness I’ve come to expect in this series, but do so without taking any of the focus off the main characters. You don’t get so caught up in them that you forget the purpose of the scene.
The revelations supplied in this book are, in a word, staggering! For all the ideas in my head to be completely off point is a rarity, and I ended up just going with the flow – but found myself turning the pages faster because I simply had to know. *grin*
While I loved the first three books, I’m rating this installment at five full stars for the sheer power it radiated. I cannot recommend this series high enough. Model Exposure is the apex, a brilliant end to an equally brilliant arc. I hope the author is going to expand from this couple to focus on other guards and delve into their lives, because I am not ready to see this series end!
I voluntarily read an ARC copy of this book for Divine Magazine from Dreamspinner Press with hopes for but no obligation to provide a review.
