Three year warranty sets it apart

Mechanical hard drives are extremely similar so it’s hard to separate out one brand from another beyond specs. The drive works and is as fast as others with the same specs. The pricing is great and is consistent with other 1 TB hard drives.

What I like about this drive is the three year warranty. I hope to never use it but with laptop drive failure too common and warranties usually in the 1-2 year range, this drive matches the “gold” standard of drive warranties.

The retail box was a waste. It had a tiny manual and no software. Typically I’ve found that retail boxes include transfer software.

NOTE: this is an AF (advanced format) drive which requires later versions of Windows 7 or Mac operating system 10.4 and up or else you need to install special software. It’s not compatible with XP out of the box and it may not be compatible with older devices that use SATA drives.

This little drive doubled my Laptop's storage. The hard drive in my Toshiba ( A215-S4767 ) started acting weird after about6 years in service. I called Toshiba and they gave me the information that this hard drive would be a good replacement. I did and the fun started. The Toshiba install disk after a full install gave me a message just before Window's Vista started for the first time. Windows can not use this Hardware, meaning the Hard drive as that was the only thing new on the computer. I first did a Bios update and reinstalled the Vista again and again. No luck. The remedy,toss out the Toshiba install/ restore disk and put in a virgin windows 7 install disk. Toshiba did not tell me this because after calling them several times one of the technicians for Toshiba noticed I was out of warranty and said, pay first then we can help you some more. So on my own I installed the windows 7 and the new bios update and I was back in the game. The drive so far works well and the computer with Windows 7 on it seems better then before with Window's Vista.

To lead in, I bought this to serve as an expansion for my PS3. I sat this while it was on sale and figured I would go for it, $50 sounded like a steal. It showed up earlier than expected, and the packing wasn't as bulky as I feared. Having only worked with PATA drives, I wasn't certain how big this would be in comparison, and was both pleased and shocked at how small it was. For me, this drive did what I wanted it to do. It was small, light, and a full 964 gigs bigger than what I was working with previously. Instillation worked out well, i've not seen any slow down in the system, and I'm not having to see what data I want to keep and what data I have to erase like I was with the original HDD. If you're looking to expand your Playstation's memory, I would recommend this cheap and efficient drive. I might just order a second one for my laptop.

Decided I would upgrade my ps4 to 1tb. I was considering 2tb but for my situation I don't think I will use that much. This drive fits in perfectly, just put it straight into the ps4, put the ps4 software install on a thumb drive started it in safe mode and everything went smooth. All my saved files and games went back on quickly. And it seems like this drive may be a little faster as well. I can't speak on reliability over time but toshiba in my experience makes a good product and it has a good warranty so I'm not too concerned. The title on here says 500gb no matter which you select Donald sure you have the 1tb option when you add it to the cart.

The drive was purchased for a PS3. This drive gave us the space needed to have all of our playstation plus games on the hard drive. I am not sure of what information would help others to decide if this drive is for them. This is the information that I can share. It fits perfectly into a PS3. As of today, its been in use for about a month and it works flawlessly. The system is used for many continuous hours on the weekend. The PS3 does not seem to run hotter. I have not noticed a difference in boot time. If it stops working or gives me issues, I will update.

I have an original Playstation 3(the 60GB model) and it appears to be particular about what hard drives it likes and doesn't like. So far in my 40 hours of use with this hard drive installed I have experienced no freezing on the console, and the load times are acceptable for a 5400rpm drive. I recommend this to anyone who wants a tried and proven hard drive upgrade for their PS3 console.

Apparently, 2011 Macbooks are prone to failure.
