Anderson's book provides the most accessible approach to compressible flow for Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering students and professionals. In keeping with previous versions, the 3rd edition uses numerous historical vignettes that show the evolution of the field. New pedagogical features - "Roadmaps" showing the development of a given topic, and "Design Boxes" giving examples of design decisions - will make the 3rd edition even more practical and user-friendly than before. The 3rd edition strikes a careful balance between classical methods of determining compressible flow, and modern numerical and computer techniques (such as CFD) now used widely in industry and research. A new book website will contain all problem solutions for instructors.

Book is not listed as advertised. It's an Indian Edition with a "new" sticker put on it. Many creased places on the book. I guess it's a good buy if you are looking for a cheap version of this book. But really should say "INDIAN EDITION" somewhere in the description!

Anderson takes a very interesting topic and explains it in a very detailed yet entertaining way. The text isn't boring to read... ! Let me repeat that this engineering text is fun to read. The historical inserts in each section were also quite interesting. For the most part the problems were doable and have some sort of application incorporated in them. Pictures, diagrams and graphs are all very useful and relevent. I was grateful to have this book as my gas dynamics undergaduat book, but I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn, or study compressible flow.

12/20/16 This is the international edition. Will return it if i can't use it at school. The seller should really put it in the description.
1/06/17 Turns out the international version is the same as the north American hard cover version. After having both side by side they are the same book both using the same unit system and tables throughout the entire book. This version is cheaper and it offer the same as the hard cover north American version.

Anderson is my favorite textbook author by far. He can break everything down into simple steps and dumb it down to the level of us non-rocket scientists. There are interesting stories and anecdotes scattered throughout the text to help break up the boring sections and give perspective into the historical background of whatever subject he's writing about. This is a great book just to have as a resource as well as a teaching aid.

As stated by reviews before me, this book was not listed as an international Edition. I specifically chose this supplier based on it not being an international edition that way I would not have to hassle with the small variances that may be in place. You have no guarantee what you will get, so be cautious when purchasing.

Pictured is the normal version, received the international (Indian) with a sticker that says “new” when the book was obviously used. Not a huge issue becuase it appears that the problems are all the same but still annoying. At least say it somewhere in the description, or picture the correct item

Copre in modo eccellente tutti gli argomenti di un corso entry-level di Gasdinamica (con alcuni elementi di Fluidodinamica interna, come ad esempio i moti alla Fanno ed alla Rayleigh, ai quali l'autore dedica due capitoletti principalmente orientati a spiegare la fenomenologia fisica) con un dettaglio ed una cura impeccabile, intervallati da piacevolissimi capitoli che trattano della storia dell'aviazione, dell'aerodinamica, della gasdinamica e degli uomini che hanno contribuito al progresso dell'Ing. Aerospaziale. La cosa più bella di questo libro è che è stato scritto, oltre che per trasmettere conoscenza, per appassionare e coinvolgere il discente, per cui chi studia da questo libro non può che innamorarsi di una materia complessa ma meravaigliosa come la Gasdinamica. Per gli Ing. Aerospaziali questo è un libro che rimane come riferimento nel tempo anche dopo la laurea (nonostante il testo abbia un impostazione chiaramente accademica).

A chiusura del libro ci sono interessanti capitoli riguardanti la Fluidodinamica Computazionale, la Gasdinamica dei gas ad elevate temperature ed elementi di Aerodinamica Ipersonica. Tutti questi argomenti sono ampiamente trattati in altri libri (Hypersonic and High Temperature Gasdynamic, Computational Fluid Dynamics: The Basic with Applications, Fundamentals of Aerodynamics; questi testi sono davvero indispensabili per un Ing. Aerospaziale, in particolare i primi due, che sono un pochettino più specialistici), altrettanto ben scritti ed appassionanti, dell'autore.

Valutazione necessaria se non altro perchè in Italia non esistono trattati specialistici di questo genere. Consigliato agli studenti della specialistica in ingegneria aerospaziale e ai ricercatori in aerodinamica (di case automobilistiche inclusi). Ancora una volta Amazon ha rivelato la sua estrema e meticolosa ONESTA'. Per errore ne avevo ordinato non uno ma due. Il rimborso é arrivato dopo solo qualche ora dal rinvio del doppione, cioè prima che il doppione arrivasse a destinazione. E' stato necessario seguire la procedura, per altro facilissima, dettata da Amazon.

Il libro è arrivato entro i tempi stabiliti. Nessun problema per spedizioni e pagamento. Come da descrizione il libro è originale e "nuovo": sembra aver "patito" abbastanza i segni del viaggio e, trattandosi di un'edizione economica, la qualità di stampa è discreta. Tuttavia per degli studenti universitari che non si possono permettere di pagare 80€ per ogni nuovo libro è un OTTIMO compromesso.
