FOREWORD (partial) by Robert D. Sheeler, M.D. Mayo Clinic Evolving research continues to show substantial health and emotional benefits from touch, physical nurturance and closeness for everyone from premature infants to the elderly. In the United States our society is more physically isolated than even those in other Western nations such as those in Central and Southern Europe. We shy away from touch and closeness for fear of crossing boundaries. Our fear of bad touch drives our behavior more than our basic need for good touch. Tina Allen is at the leading edge of reintegrating good touch into our society. By teaching the principles and sharing techniques that have been refined over her career in Pediatric Massage, Tina makes learning a foundation of straightforward massage skills something that is accessible to everyone. The knowledge she shares in regard to what works best for each developmental stage is invaluable for professional and parent alike. The techniques and stories are easy to work with and a delight to use. Tina is a highly committed and truly passionate individual. She shares the techniques and specific skills she has developed and mastered and taught to Neonatologists, Pediatricians and Massage therapists across the globe.

I especially appreciate the section that addresses "common childhood discomforts". There are tips and techniques for tummy troubles, congestion, growing pains, headaches, sleep troubles, and all even stress and tension. Any time my son sees it he begs for one of the massage stories. He loves picking one out and even likes to practice his massage techniques on his little brother.
I think this will be one of my go-to gifts for baby showers and new moms, but I think it's a great book for parents in general!
The hard cover is my go to Baby Shower gift!!!
I highly recommend his book for both professionals and families. there is somethings for everyone.
I feel more prepared working with this population than I ever imagined. THANK YOU!
