I embarrassingly have.
It’s why I’m wearing my girl's decorative scarf over my head, clutching her lady drink to my chest, and singing ever so softly to Joni Mitchell while swaying back and forth.
This is what therapists refer to as LOSING IT.
Oldest story in the book: boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy screws up MASSIVELY, girl tells boy to suffocate in the fruits of his very own unborn children.
Heard it before? I'm sure you have.
So what's so different about this story? Well, it's about me, The Modern Gentleman, New York City's top advice columnist, and my rather ungraceful downfall from my pristinely polished pedestal.
It's about a girl I met who threw all my proven theories to the wind and left me awkward, needy, and absolutely head-over-wingtipped shoes in love.
This is a story about June Lacy and how she single-handedly dismantled The Modern Gentleman.

Review
"This book was absolutely hilarious. This may be my new favourite book from Meghan Quinn."- Amazon Review"Ultimately, that is what The Modern Gentleman is. It's a break from the seriousness of our world. If we can laugh at the ridiculous situations in Wes and June's relationship, then we can find the funny in our own. If you want to laugh and gobble up a book in one sitting, then you MUST read Meghan Quinn's The Modern Gentleman."- Amazon Review"Meghan Quinn is quickly climbing the ranks to becoming my favorite author. As time goes on, her books just get better and better. At this point, there is not a thing she could write that I wouldn't read. She pulled me in so quickly with The Modern Gentleman. It was hook, line, sinker for me. My favorite trope in the world is Rom-Com and with Quinn's words, I do not see that changing any time soon."- Amazon Review"Meghan Quinn always knows how to knock me off my feet with a good romcom. She is such a bright light shining down on romancelandia."- Amazon Review

Wes is sweet and funny, unbelievably patient and absolutely adorable. He ranks up there with Linc and Pacey as one of my favorite "Meghan Quinn boys".
Ms. Quinn knows how to write quirky female characters and June falls into that category. She is unlike any other character out there. Her dolls gave me the shakes. Wes' reaction is priceless.
I loved the way this book or chapters are written with June surprising us to take a turn.
Meghan Quinn is on a level above all other rom-com authors. She is the queen.
I will return this book in KU and buy it because she deserves the sale. I love her writing. Bravo!
Meghan Quinn always has a smart and witty way with words and the brilliant mental imagery that they can create, and ‘The Modern Gentleman’ in its entirety is a great example of that skill.
In this standalone rom-com the leading characters, Wes and June, meet in a moment facilitated by a 3-eared dog and a pile of dog poop. Most of the book is told from Wes’ point of view and then it switches to June’s perspective at the very end. For this story, it’s a technique that works perfectly. Wes is the author of an online advice column entitled The Modern Gentleman. A directive from his employer puts Wes in the position of needing to start and develop a relationship with a woman as a series of lessons for his readers – a “how-to” example in real life. June has very old-fashioned attitudes about dating, which really keep her in the dark about what goes on in Internet trends, so although she knows Wes is a writer, she has no clue what he actually writes. She also has no idea that he is documenting their dating history for his column. You know from the beginning that it’s going to blow up in the end. Yet The author executes the story so well that the predictability is actually anticipation to see what happens exactly, and how it happens.
I thought both characters were likable, as were the key secondary characters. Some of the funny scenes did make me laugh out loud, which is always a plus. The character growth displayed in the story is excellent, and I loved the ending. There are some excellent pop culture references sprinkled throughout the book, and that’s also fun.
This follows Wes, a so-called “Modern Gentleman,” who writes articles encouraging men to embrace a “gentleman on the streets, alpha in the sheets” mentality. But when Wes’ boss insists that he start infusing personal experiences into his writing, it puts Wes in a bad spot. He’s got to find a woman to date… and he can’t tell her anything about the articles. Despite the fact that Wes’ deception is destined to blow up in his face, he starts dating a woman who proves to be more than he bargained for.
I always love Quinn’s books but her comedy is what really pulls me in, and this has that in spades. Wes thinks he’s cool and sophisticated, but it’s all of the bumps in the road that make this a memorable story. There’s basically zero angst, just funny antics and a lot of lighthearted moments that make the pages fly by. And I loved the fact that it’s a slow burn, with a hero who isn’t a jerk (he’s perhaps a little naive) and a romance that focuses on the emotional connection. If I have one complaint, it would be that I wanted more of June and an ending that didn’t feel quite so rushed, but it was truly a fun, playful read from start to finish. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC via Candi Kane PR (then purchased it for my collection) and am voluntarily leaving a review of this rom com.

The Modern Gentleman gave me How to Lose A Guy In 10 Days crossed with Never Been Kissed vibes. I actually had tears of laughter down my face at points in this book. It was just what I needed.
Wes writes advice articles for a magazine called HYPE about how to become what every lady wants "a gentleman on the streets and an alpha in the sheets" His boss wants him to dig deeper for his next piece by showing his audience that he can follow his own advice and can woo a lady the proper way. Struggling big time to meet someone who he potentially wants to date he meets June in a most unusual way. The pair have some hilarious dates! The first date was by far my favourite and having Wes recount his experience to Roman and Caden omg I havent laughed that much in forever. Those 2 need their own story! I really loved the chemistry and banter between Wes and June she seemed so quirky and down the earth she didn't have to go out of her way to impress Wes she could just be herself and it was tough if he didn't like it. Wes as much as he tried to be smooth and sophisticated showed that he was just as much of a dummy as every other male out there. It was great to see that his advice didn't work on June in quite the way he had hoped. Loved the grand gesture. Another cracker from Meghan Quinn.

Wonderful to read that Wes and June eventually got their HEA.
