The cranberry cocktail, the salmon, and the carrots, are already on our Xmas menu, and I will repeat them in the New Year for sure.
The verdict is that they are luscious and really high quality. I know the positive impact of these meals on our health.
The style of this author’s writing gives you a sense that she is talking to you personally and we are in the same kitchen!
I have cooked from ‘Zest for Life’, the previous book from the same author, since March 2013. The recipes there are , also top restaurant quality, and extremely healthy. Since I have used that book, I do not feel lost in the jungle of recipe books. I feel my palate and health are in a really good place.
I would recommend this book and this author to people who have a real appreciation for food that is highly nutritious and delicious.
With holidays fast approaching, cooking meals that will leave us feeling great but still fill everyone and feel celebratory is more of a challenge. How delightful to download a new collection from Middelmann-Whitney, Modern Mediterranean: Christmas and New Year.
One of the many great things about these recipes is that even the heaviest meat dishes are less calorie laden than many celebratory foods. The salads and vegetable dishes satisfy my desire to eat loads of the green stuff, but still have small tastes of the heavier protein-based dishes.
What better place to start than with a bright cranberry-red cocktail. This is accompanied by colorful and tasty vegetable dips. The fresh winter greens salad with pear, walnuts and Roquefort is a welcome low-calorie appetiser, and a nice interlude before the heavy cooked foods begin.
I first had poached salmon on a bed of lentils in the south of France, and it’s been a staple in my party dish repertoire ever since. Middelmann-Whitney dresses it up champagne sauce for the holidays.Read more ›
I found the photos throughout the book to be delightful and inspiring. I don't strictly follow a gluten-free diet or particular food philosophy... I just love great food. After browsing the recipes and photos, I'm already planning to refresh and update my holiday menus to include some of these. I'll test out a few on my family this week.
I'm so happy I stumbled upon this creative collection of recipes!
