First off and foremost, this game really took me back to the Super Mario Kart days. I love it. Although, before you get too excited there are a few things that do knock some stars off this game;
A: If you've never played the game before, expect to download a total of 7 updates (as of 3/15/11) that are about 1.4GB total in size. This took awhile and I have a 10mb connection. (non-wireless)
B: After the downloaded and installed updates are finished, you then have to let the game install itself to your hard drive which takes another 10 minutes or maybe more.
C: After finally getting completely booted up and ready to play, you have to deal with what seems like forever lasting loading screens. You would think that the installing to your hard drive would minimize the loading times of games, but not with this one. Prepare to wait.
On the plus side of things;
A: The game is very fun. It has its own little story thats easy to follow and very funny at times.
B: The online community is amazing. Finding online races is easy and more fun that the single player career.
C: Downloading online creations is super addictive and probably my favorite feature. I couldn't stop searching for my favorite characters just to see if someone had made them. I downloaded Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile (Mortal Kombat) Dog The Bounty Hunter, Batman, and Mario & Luigi themselves. Its amazing and very addictive.
All in all, its definitely worth the $23 that Amazon has it for right now. Despite the waiting for updates and installs along with loading screens, this game can be hours upon hours of fun. My copy also included a free Sackboy Mod/Cart (Little Big Planet) download inside the case. Super nice! I'd recommend it to anyone from a child to a grown adult. (such as my-30 year old-self, lol)
