For the chair itself, assembly was very easy and straightforward with the instructions provided. You're required to use 4 screws to screw into the bottom of the chair to mount the plastic cover. There are not predrilled holes, so I used my handheld drill to help make that easier. I could see it being a pain to do with a manual screwdriver.
The seat is definitely a little shallow. I'm 6" and 160lbs, so a very normal size, and I think if the seat was a little deeper it would be more comfortable. I have no problems with getting the foot ring to stay in place, but it is small and basically the only way to rest my feet on it is if I hook the heels of my shoe onto it. Other than that it requires you to have your feet almost directly underneath your but to use the foot rest, which is not a comfortable or ergonomic position.
With all that said, I'm confident in giving it a solid 4 stars. Not quite a 5 because of the seat being a little shallow and the small footrest. It's comfortable if you have somewhere other than the ring to rest your feet, and I like how the arms swing up out of the way. Also looks nice and the parts seem to be quality that will hold up for a lot of normal use.
EDIT: a couple months later and I wanted to update my review. This chair is extremely uncomfortable because of the footrest not being large enough. I have to tuck my legs up under the chair to get my feet on the footrest, and then hook the heels of my shoe on it. Needless to say it's REALLY uncomfortable and not ergonomic at all. For this, I've changed my review to 3 stars because it's so annoying and uncomfortable I find myself rarely using the chair and just standing up instead. That is my only complaint though, and it seems to be a very common problem among these "drafting chairs". You would think that someone would get it right and make the footrest 3-5" larger in diameter.

I have had this chair for 2 months and 10 days. I absolutely LOVE this chair. It's incredibly comfortable. It's height is also perfect for what I needed it for, which is my bar. We live in a small house and mine and my husbands computers are on our bar but we had problems finding computer chairs that could be made tall enough. Stools were terrible because we are both gamers and sitting on an uncomfortable stool for anymore than like 30 minutes was actually causing me physical pain.
Now here's the problem. Starting a couple days ago the chair randomly lowers by it's self. There is nothing near the handle. I will just be sitting in my chair and it will randomly lower to half the height or all the way down. There doesn't seem to be a cause as it does it whether I'm sitting still or moving the chair and nothing has happened to the chair to have caused such a problem.
Again I have contacted customer support to see if there is a solution or if they can send me a replacement part. Will update when I get a response
Update: After some initial confusion with who I was supposed to email. Company gave me the email for their claims department. I sent an email this morning and already got a response that a replacement part is on it's way to me and will be here in 1-2 days. Not updating my rating yet, waiting till the part gets here and I can check that what they sent fixes the problem.
Update: Offically dropping my review down to one star until someone actually helps with my problem. The "part" that was sent to me was a little bag of replacement screws and washers. Not sure what in the hell they expected this to do??? There were no instructions or a follow up email sent. All parts of my chair are securely attached. My chair is dropping several inches down at random. That has nothing to do with screws and washers. At this point this is hands down the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I thought they were going to send me a new (dunno what to actually call it) pole for my chair so that it wouldn't drop at random. Instead they send this. For how expensive this chair is and the fact that I'm paying $20 a month for it for 6 months. You would think it would last more than a month before something starts breaking and that SOMEONE would send you a replacement part when that happens.
In my case, this occurred in such a way that I heard the screws and felt the chair going over in time to start to turn slightly to the side, avoiding the very serious injury that would have come with landing with my full weight on my head and neck.
Seriously: do not buy this chair, as serious injury or death could easily result from its very poor design.
