If people remember Mojo Nixon at all, it's as a presence for a few years on MTV. He was edgy in a sanitized, cleaned-up for TV way, and pretty amusing. This captures Mr. Mojo at an earlier and fully unsanitized phase. It's great music, the lyrics are full of wonderful outsider Americana, and it will give your aunt from Iowa a heart attack. Plus he's really funny, in a wonderfully disturbing way. I could start to elaborate, but then my review would no doubt be censored (and for good reason!).
Until recently, copies of this long out-of-print CD were going for over $100 -- and I almost went for it even at that price. You'd be nuts not to buy the downloads at 7.99. Two of my files had minor electronic defects -- gotta complain about that, but haven't gotten the famous round tuit.
