Wow this came fast!! I was favorably impressed with the quality of the item for the price point. The leather was supple (which I like) and the stitching sturdy. Unfortunately it does not fit my Midori A5 journal. The journal is too thick and thus the cover doesn't cover. I tried a thinner A5 and it fit perfectly (like a moleskin). If you use a thin journal like that then this is going to be fine. I have not decided whether to send it back or give it as a gift since I have some of the thin moleskin type journals laying around. So disappointed about this because I do like it!

Slit For Elastic Is Annoying

I wanted very much to like this cover. It is sturdy and sewn well. Nice pockets. Fits the Moleskine Classic Expanded nicely.

Unfortunately, there is a slit for the Moleskine's elastic to come through, and it's giving me fits. The little edges pop up constantly, and then the cover of the Moleskine tries to slide through the open hole and gets caught. It was nice to give people the option to use their elastic closure, but I'd rather just have a solid pocket with no slit.

I use a lot of notebooks and I have purchased other notebook covers around the same price. This far exceeds them. I saw other reviews that mentioned some of these things, so I will address as well.

Leather is soft but stable. Holds the notebook well. A moleskine or a $5 notebook from Walmart (I am using this one right now). The elastic band on the notebook can be used to hold notebook shut if desired.

Pen holder is big enough for any size pen. Which is nice.

I encountered absolutely no dye transfer to the pages of my notebook.

There was no strong odor coming from the notebook. I mean there is a "normal" leather smell but I literally have to touch my face with the notebook to smell it.

For the price, I just cannot see how you could get a better notebook cover.

I love the finish on this leather cover, as do my co-workers. I have been using it daily for several months and it continues to serve me well. The finish is getting the usual marks from constant use, but that adds to the character and timeless beauty of real leather. The large Moleskine fit well and the internal pen loop is a welcomed offering. This was so nice I purchased a second for my sister. Note that it does take time to arrive, but once received, the wait was well worth it.

I recently received this cover and bought a moleskin to put in it. For the price this is hands down the best option for a leather cover. Yes it may possibly be reconstructed or composite as some people say but from the smell, feel, and wearing it is very cool and looks like some of $100+ journal covers. It has the pen holder on the side so it doesn't get in the way of the cover closing. I look forward to many years of use out of this cover. Will certainly buy other products from this vendor as they are needed.

I don't understand the negative comments on this product; it is a simple design to carry a notebook and pen to wherever, but very well made of thick leather. The first thing I noticed is the leather is a bit stiff, but know it will soften up as it breaks in with use and I'm sure it will develop a nice patina, too. Go find something comparable at an office supply store, and you'll pay at least twice as much.

I love this and it’s exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a small leather portfolio that I can use with a small tablet. I also ordered the thinnest mole skin book I could find and was able to mount my tablet with a simple case on the opposite side. Viola!

I don’t know why people think this smells like leather as it brings back memories of working a summer at a shoe factory as a teen. Nice!
