The description says that it powers a molex device through an existing SATA power connection. In reality, it does the reverse - it will power a SATA device through an existing molex power connection. Use it for your older power supply that does not have enough SATA connections.

While one of the 1 star reviews say it's a 'counterfeit' I say who cares.
Yes the pins are loose, and feels cheaply made. Most likely you'll only plug this in once.
Does it work, absolutely. Hold two pencils at the base of the molex to keep them straight.
Plugging it in was very easy, just use common sense.
This deserved 5 star from me because it was far cheaper ordering than buying in-store.
Made in China or made on the moon, money talks.
Wires are more than adequate to handle the currents from any PSU.

I just purchased a new high end computer that has tons of legacy support: PCI/COM/Parallel printer connector and an abundance of older legacy power connectors. I had my doubts using this molex to SATA converter but it is currently power up a 5 terabyte HD without a problem. Which brings up another subject, Win 10 is limited to 2.2 TB max for MBR support, so the drive was formatted for use with GTP, but that is another subject. Funny to see MBR being outpaced by the vast availability of large hard drives, it brings me back to the bad old days of extended/expanded memory schemes. Just realized, MBR is now a legacy platform. Ah, memory lane. Anyway, this connector works fine.

this item was necessary for my computer system since my power supply unit was still Molex and all new products are SATA. It should have been a simple thing to buy at Radioshack or Best Buy, however no one carried the item in stores. The price online through Radioshack was triple what I paid on Amazon (due in part to added shipping costs). Thanks Amazon.

Needed this adapter to connect my BluRay SATA writer to my Mac Pro 1,1 (in drive bay 1). Pretty straightforward as to installation (fyi - installing the drive requires pretty much dismantling your 1,1 to get to the extra internal SATA ports ... NOT for the faint of heart) and has worked flawlessly.

I got this nice piece of cheap SATA power adapter to use for a CD drive for my new build. It was cheap and the shipping was not the usual 2 months from some Eastern country like Hong Kong, so, I ordered it. It came in on time and it was in great shape. Upon putting it into my Molex PSU cables, I stumbled upon some SATA power cables already included in my PSU. Isn't that funny! I didn't even need it! lolz. So, I thought since I bought it I might as well use the little thing. It works perfect so far and I see no problems with it. Other then my own stupidity..... Great buy!!!

Easy to install, bright, what's not to love? Only potential problem is it's not actually secured on the one side, so you don't want to get carried away pushing on it too hard, otherwise, it's a string of lights. Pretty straightforward.

I needed this cable to hook up a second SATA drive in my aging HP Presario tower for RAID-1.
HP, in their infinite wisdom, didn't include SATA power dongles in this model's PSU, only Molex....

It works well for what it is. As expected, the pins in the Molex side of the adapter have a tendency to wiggle and need to be coaxed into place in the male Molex adapter.

The gauge of wire seems appropriate for this adapter, but I would have appreciated a slightly thicker gauge wire.
