Caution: This product may pose a chocking hazard to some cats
December 3, 2014
9/03/2016 edit. The plastic fibers in the cheap carpet become attractive clear tinsel like strings as the cats scratch. Up to 6 inch lengths hang from the carpet. Our youngest kitten chocked after chewing and swallowing a 6 inch length with bit of carpet still attached that got lodged in her throat. Had to pull the mess out have cat checked by vet. I've cut this fiberous stuff off weekly as I vacuum and have little exposed carpet left as it does not last. I've wound rope to cover as the carpet has been destroyed but these fibers are still in the carpet and come through between the rope. Also That cat pictured in the original review ate a fiber and had rock candy stool on a string that he dragged all over my house trying to dislodge. This product is is NOT cat friendly!
Does not work for large cats. The beds are too shallow and too small. Also the orientation of the upper half shell makes it difficult for large cats to climb into the top bed. I had to squash it into a corner to keep cats falling or tipping the tree on the way to the top bed. I have 3
large males (16 lbs) and this tree while sturdy in construction it has cheap carpet that's already fraying after just a few months and the individual platforms are way too small. I Overpriced and unless you want to re carpet this tree every 6 months, probably not worth the price.
