This was an easy read, and the author withheld just enough information about "the plan" that the reader keeps reading. Now for the down side. "The Plan" was executed, and things were falling into place, but a couple things still weren't resolved. I was reading the "three months later" chapter, without realizing it was a teaser for the next book in the series, and not only was I left with some loose ends from the book I had just read, but the author snuck in a major cliff hanger.
Now I do understand that many books are a continuing series - same characters, new situations. And I also get that some free books are offered to acquaint the reader with an author that may be new to them. But I feel betrayed when the author uses a trick like this to promote their books. Usually, I won't even download a book, even if it is free, if I pick up any indication that the story will be left hanging unless I buy the next book. Finish one book, and even if the characters and story of their lives and adventures continues, make each book a stand alone. So for that reason, I'm lowering the rating I would have given.
So my recommendation is if you choose to enjoy this book, do NOT get started on the final chapter following "three months later". And be prepared for some of the sub plots to remain unresolved.

"Mom Con" by Karl Fields...
What is this novel about?
A little confidence goes a long way.
"Meet Anita Henry, a hard-working, single mom trying to launch her own business after losing her job. To top it all off, her ex-employer is suing her for stealing company secrets.
Corporate espionage? Please. Her single greatest offense was a high school fashion felony. But when a shady court ruling forces Anita to cease and desist, she's determined to get revenge.
There are two ways to get money: you can take it or someone can give it to you. Thanks to an elaborate nightclub scam, Anita’s old boss is about to hand over a small fortune. That is, if Anita’s lazy brother, her deadbeat ex-husband and a sketchy music manager don’t bring the whole thing down first."
What I thought about this read....
I will say simply I loved reading the novel "Mom Con." When I first started reading I didn't know what to think but as I was running through it I will say this author did a wonderful job with presenting this well written script to his readers. You know when you are down and out as you will find from the read of these three ladies especially one ...what is there to do...pull yourself up and do what is best for you that is what these ladies did in order to take control and get back what had been taken from them. When you think about it after you pick up this wonderful read this can and does happen to a lots of people. It was fun just seeing how "Anita Henry turned the tables on the ex-boss who tried to steal her business, banking a cool six figures in the process." What can you do about it other than take control of your life and move on. This author really presented the reader just with that thought...so, will this employer get away with it? I found a lots of humor in a lot of what was going on and I liked the flow of this story and how it turned out. I love this thought..."There are two ways to get money: you can take it or someone can give it to you." Now, you add to this main story...not only a ex employer presenting problems on to a "lazy brother, a deadbeat ex-husband and a sketchy music manager" and you have a good story that will continue on from this novel to the next one from this author...'Mom Con: A Tangled Web.' Would I recommend? YES!
