I felt it was a very factual account of the life a beautiful soul that has endured despite her hardships. Growing up is hard. Growing up in an abusive household is even harder. I too have lived through many of the same things so I understand the tenacity of character, the sheer determination to thrive, and the faith to survive.... sometimes all at once. Bravo Cari, for sharing you truth!

Pro's and Con's: The chronology is sometimes hard to follow. For me, I found the rhythm to be likened to the ramblings within the mind, when one subject brings up another memory, and another intercedes, and then another, and before realizing it the mind is reaching in another direction. What a clever way to invite the readers into the author's mind. It was an easy read, albeit an emotional one, and I had great difficulty in putting it down.

I read "Mommy, Why Are All the Birds in This Nest Crippled?" in one evening... I couldn't put it down. I am amazed at the honesty and humility of this outstanding author. It's difficult to share your life's story with just a few people, let alone the entire world. I could relate to a lot of the difficulties she endured as a child, as well as an adult, and the fact that she's overcome so much pain without taking the full credit says mountains about her character as a human being. It helped me with some of my own issues and gave me hope that there is healing out there if you want it. I'm looking forward to her next book!

Cari did a wonderful thing by sharing her story and gaining strength from doing so. It is an interesting, heartbreaking, yet inspiring story of her life. I do recommend giving this book your time to read. Good job Cari.

Enjoyed reading this book. It was based on the accounts of a woman's life. The reason for 3 stars is because I wish it would have been a little more organized as far as her life events. Was a little choppy and jumbled.
