I bought two copies of this book because I know someday I am going to bump into someone in the same situation as me- and this book will be just what they need.
As an advocate of mental health awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness, I talk to my children/friends/family about my bipolar depression on a regular basis. The stigma still exists however, so I know that far too many parents feel that they can't talk about their mental illness with their children, and that hurts not only the parent, but also the children, who have trouble understanding this "invisible" illness and often feel that it's their fault.
So if you are a parent with depression/mental illness, please get this book and read it with your children. It will definitely help both you and your children to understand the illness and reduce the stigma that keeps too many people from getting help.
